COMMENT: As-it-is-said: Ask a stupid question and you get astupid answer. Or: Bullsh-t the oracle and the oracle willbullsh-t you back.

COMMENT: I assume that the near-absence of actual R. Shlomoteachings is due to pressure -- including demonstrated threatof harassment by frivolous litigation -- by NC. That throwsdocumenting R. Shlomo's teachings into the position --preposterous, since we have so much first-hand material -- ofcollecting indirect recollections; and that abets a tendencyto idolize, beatify, and sentimentally trivialize his work(as many contributing to the issue point out, with all thesubtle tact I ain't got.)
Already some patent nonsense is getting out: that hegot a Ph.D. from Columbia. That someone who subseqentlyrecovered from a coma had been declared brain-dead bydoctors.

NC's motivation seems psychologic, not an academicconcern for responsible, systematic archiving/publication.
Nor can one credit with professionalism someone whorepeatedly breaks with most of those best-qualified toassist.
I am concerned too with the possibility that NC willprettify published teachings; while continuing to withholdoriginals not merely from publication but from examination. Nor are there indications that NC is properly preserving andbacking up, much less archving, original materials in thatCollection.

As for 'the Carelbach family'; that would not seem torefer to a divorced wife; it would refer to adult children,at such time as they show criteria of exercising mature andindependent judgement. Nor does it seem appropirate for adivorced wife to serve as agent for the children.
As for property rights, much less 'intellectual propertyrights', it would seem that those had been settled by theterms of the divorce; and that no subsequent claim beyondthose terms is appropriate.
And as for 'intellectual property', that would not seemto apply to the teachings of a Rabbi -- a fortiori as thoseare deemed commentaries on knowlege that is the property ofall Israel. Like, we ain't talking about the blueprints forthe Pentium 707.
I would not make these points so strongly had not workwith R. Shlomo material been largely paralyzed, and severalpersons of exceptional character and qualificationdemoralized, by that approach.

Like, 2 years and all we get from the Carlebach Foundation isa high-tone Fanzine, and a pair of cassettes, one of whichhad been intended for the MIA movement. Plus enoughmegaamplified Shlomo shlock to wake up a Purim donkey.
