Moshav Modiin, Haricurtting of Seven Three Year Olds
Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach Speaking

I just want to share with you fast, a little Torah fromIshbitser.

You know when children are born, they are so, so complete. And sadly enough in this world, in this world...we are cuttingthem so short. They have so much of their neshamas, they have somuch of their insides. So the truth is it takes about threeyears... The Gemora says it takes three years to become part ofyou...like someone buys a field, after three years it's reallyyours. So when children are born it takes them an extra threeyers to come into this world. So when children are coming intothis world, sadly enought, they cannot live a heavenly existencein this world, sadly enough ... a little bit in this world ... Sowhat we do, we cut their hair, we say Ribbono Shel Olam, 'Don'tever cut their neshama. Let is just be the outside.' But for usYidden, the outside is also important.

So this is the Torah fromthe Slonimer. The Slonimer sayss,"Who was the first one who made payos?" And he said, "This waswhen Yaakov and Esav went their own ways, because until there (theplace where payos grow) it is the mind and from here begins theheart. So Essav was cutting off here in order that the heart andthe mind should not be connected, and Yaakov Avinu mamash let itgrow all the way, the heart and the mimd should be one.
So mamash we are leaving strong 'payala' for our kids, let itbe that the world should never cut off the connection between theheart and the mind!
You know everybody has good ideas but they never do anythingabout it. Becuase the heart isn't with it. So mamash we blessour children they should be like Yaakov Avinu and I bless them andthey shoud never have friends that cut their neshamas and you knowthe payos are always heavenly. We only cut the rest, but the'payala', the connection between our mind and our heart shouldalways come from Heaven.

And I don't think anywhere in the world there are beautifulchildren like in the Moshav. The most important thing. I blessthe parents, all of us. You know children are mamash in ourhands. It is so easy to cut them short, it's so easy to cut themshort. Remembere I was always saying, Why was Yitzak alwayslaughing? Because, I'm sure, Issac is the only baby in the worldthat nobody ever yelled at. Novody ever cut Issac short. This iswhat Shimon bar Yocha is all about. Reb Shimon bar Yochai livedmamash in the darkest age, mamash in a coave. It's dark, andthere he discovered the deepest secrets of the world. So when wecut our children's hair, we connect them to Reb Shiomon and all ofIsrael. That even if you've been a little bit in a dark world, but G-d should give you so many secrets, wherever you are. Thereshould be so much light around you, [Hebrew] v'lkol kli sbal, hukor baiskotn.
