R. Shlomo material: Inventory of Collections etc.

COLLECTIONS AMONGST THE CHEVRE, 2/95:
-----------------------------------------------------------------

COLLECTION OF REUVEN GILMORE, MOSHAV MEOR MODI'IN:
Feb. 6, 1995: Reuven Gilmore tells me, if I heard right, that he hasinput 400,000K (O.4Mb), mostly or entirely from the HH collection,apparently from handwritten ms. Get a listing.
================================================================

COLLECTION OF R. ZUSHA FRUMIN, MOSHAV MEOR MODI'IN:
2/95: Leah Golomb tells me that she thinks R. Zusha has some materialnot duplicated in collections of Haskala Sasson and R. Joshua Witt. I've requested a listing.
================================================================
COLLECTION OF ARYEH NAFTALI, MOSHAV MEOR MODI'IN:
	See:  Audio tapes, Tapes
=====================================================================
COLLECTION OF BEN-ZION SOLOMON:

This is a continent, I assume; but surely an exceptionally well-mappedone; Ben-Zion should have comprehensive indices of what he has, invarious media.
AN notes that Ben-Zion recorded Shlomo's voice at most of his concerts(I'm sure that includes Modi'in concerts, I'm not sure of AN meantIsrael concerts outside Modi'in as well.) That is, Ben-Zion used onlyone mike, at R. Shlomo's mouth, so the background musicians don't getin, and R. Shlomo's guitar may only get it faintly.
Ben-Zion notes that he has started 3 R. Shlomo projects:
(A) An extensive musical catalog and data-base!
(b) "Production of a raw tape I have of R'Shlomo singing through theHallel" [ie, I assume: R. Shlomo singing the entire Hallel]
(c) "A new song book that will include all the music I have collectedthat has not to date been published.
Ben-Zion also notes a need for funding of these projects.

OTHER COLLECTIONS:	ISRAEL:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
COLLECTION OF RABBI JOE SHONWALD, 24 Shimshon (Baka), Jerusalem

TGG notes that R. Shonwald, who is one the Carlebach Foundation Boardand Steering Committee, has a very extensive tapes of R. Shlomo at hisshul. TGG says that these are mostly singing, since that's what thecongregants wanted. However, one assumes that there are teachingsinterspersed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Apparently RUACH CAMP has a collection.
Apparently the head of Ruach remains
           John Gedalya Persky,
           230 Davis Ave.
		 Albany, NY 11290
           Telephone: 518--489-3983.

NC is in touch with him.
=================================================================
NE'ILAH CARLEBACH COLLECTION:

Apparently NC has not yet had an opportunity to systematically andfully catalogue this collection.
I am not clear if the Kehilat Jacob collection remains there, or iswith her. She seemed to indicate that it is less extensive that I hadassumed.
She mentions a large number of reels (!) of 8" Tapes from the House ofLove and Prayer, which she intends to copy to cassette. Apparently alarge collection is with ILONA SHACHTER.
================================================================
COLLECTION OF ILANA SCHACHTER:
  No details. Apparently includes a large number of 8" tapes from theHouse of Love & Prayer
=====================================================================
COLLECTION OF MIRIAM SHIFRIN DRORI:
	See:  Hard-copy, Transcripts
=====================================================================
COLLECTION OF NATANEL SHUR:
	See: =inv0494b. I have not yet updated my listing of hiscollection. Probably the largest collection of video-tapes of R.Shlomo appearances in Israel, ca. 1989?--1994. Includes most of theYakar appearances. Only 2 or 3 of his videotapes have been edittedinto distributable form, I think.
	Natanel is also the only person to date to have translated R.Shlomo teachings into French; a number of his translations werepublished in the Jerusalem Post Weekly French edition.
	He also has a good small collection of xeroxes, though most arecopies from other collections. On the other hand, Natanel's lesslikely to lose 'em then most of the rest of us.

------------------------------------------------------------------
COLLECTION OF R. SHALOM BROD:

Shalom Brod seems to indicate that he has an extensive collection, butit's in storage in Montreal, and he says he can't get at it for a year(!). Went back to Montreal; might have it by now.

1/95 -- Working on R. Shlomo Hagadah
=====================================================================
ASSUMED COLLECTION OF R. MEIR FUND, 1049 E. 13, BROOKLYN 11230.
If he doesn't personally hold a collection -- and Dafna Goldstein, whohas been living near him, says she thinks he does not -- he should atleast know who has the B'nei Jeshrun Collection.
======================================================================
COLLECTION OF R. DAVID HERZBERGER:
About 5 tapes. I've lost my input on that collection; I'll checkearlier drafts for it.

2/26/95: Bat'a Cohen says at this time neither she nor anyone else isworking on R. Shlomo material. Apparently they are not even retainingthe R. Shlomo disc material that I have sent them; I don't know aboutthe audio tapes. She knows of only Tamar Gottstein and Emunah Wittworking on R. Shlomo material.
	It would seem likely that in a month or so Mimi Feigelson and/orDavid Zeller would start working on R. Shlomo material.

Other Scanners:

Canon IX-3010 List Price $569, supplied with Caere OmniScan OCRsoftware. Tel: 714--438-3000

(Other scan softeare, Listed by vendor, no description:
Caere Omni-Page Win 2.0 ($100)
Caere Omni-Page Pro 5.0 Win ($500!) )

The review characterizes the HP Scanner as much easier to use, and theCanon as providing more user control. However, the review does notfocus (!) on relative capability for scanning poor-quality typed copy;which is the primary need in inputting R. Shlomo transcripts.
