II. RECENT PUBLICATIONS:

Ne'ilah Carelbach has mentioned, with a certain sense offrustration and annoyance, a number of apparently ratherirresponsible and possibly inaccurate publications in the USA, orpartial R. Shlomo teachings and of reminiscences. The only one Igot in detail was "What's Next", published in Ojai, California.[For further details, just hitch out to Ojai and ask for What'sNext.]

ARTICLES IN PERIODICALS:

"Simply Shlomo" by Elli Wohlgelernter, Jlem Post Magazine,4/20/95.
Slim pickins; but apparently based on an in-depth interview withthe writer, summer 1994, apparently one of many interviews withhim. The writer is well-regarded in observant circles, so theinterview probably contains much more substantive material thanthe article.
Notes R. Shlomo was born January 14, 1925, "a descendent of a longline of mitnaged rabbis. The family escaped the Nazis in 1939 andemigrated to New York". Cites his main influences as RAbbi AaronKotler and the (Old) Lubavitcher Rebbe.
A few autobiographic quotes, but no quoted teachings. Wohlgelerntner seems quite knowlegeable on what songs R. Shlomowrote, and their significance.
In "Endnotes", for which he is probably the source, althoughsigned by Kelly Hartog, it notes that R. Shlomo released 35 albumsand wrote 1000 songs.

Reminiscence by Devora Hammer, 5309 22nd Ave. NE, Redmond, WA 98053. Copyright claimed. Primarily a personal reminiscence, with few if any quotes from R. Shlomo; but gives a good glimpse ofthe Jerusalem-based chevre.
