This is the read-me doc for Disc ==00238UPDATE, \AMDUR96C

\AMDUR96C is an update 1 APR 96 of Dorot 00238, Amdur branch only.

This update consists of no more and no less than the Leonard &Nancy Amdur Briskin Family Book (abbreviated LNAB), compiled 6/95.

I have not done independent geneologic research on the Amdurgeneology. Apart from adding a few personal recollections.
I have, however, noted a few errors in the Briskin geneology.

The Briskins indicate that the Pittsburgh Jewish Geneology societywill be sending their Amdur Geneology, in GEDCOM I'm sure, to"Washington and Israel" for input.

This update constitues major corrections and additions to theAmdur branch of 00238.
In general the LNAB geneology should supplant my Amdur geneology;but since 00238 contains 3 additional geneologies, that might getcomplicated. If you can post a note on 238 referring enquirers tothe Briskin geneology, that would help.

This disc is text format only (input in EinsteinWriter, enclosed)
It is not input in PC-DOROT, nor in GEDCOM.
My primary purpose in sending it to Dorot is archival; a safebackup. Anyone who wants to input it or put it into GEDCOM iswelcome to.

I've not proof-read this disc; I'm sure there are correctableerrors. If I produce a more polished version in the next fewmonths, I'll send it along as a replacement.

The documents could be translated into ASCII by using T.EXE; but Idon't know how much would be scrambled in doing so.

Einstein documents are limited to 65.5 K, and to 99 numberablepages. To correlate my pages with LNAB, I've used a pseudo-pageof maximum 120 lines. A few pages are longer than 66 lines; mostare much shorter. To output without wasting paper, Global Replacethe .p 's with #p. However, that will then lose the correlationwith LNAB, which I have only in some cases noted in the document.
PSearch, a Shareware program, will search the entire sub-directoryin a single pass, eg to locate a given name.

=am238a96 gives more details about the LNAB Family Book.
