I do not find anyone with initials D.B.G. listed on the masthead.
David Green is listed, without a middle name nor initial, as theBooks Editor.

Review of Grkin & Othman, Three Mothers, Three Daughters

TEXT:
"This reader was surprised to find himself most moved by theaccount of the 33-year-old refugee woman who's been held threetimes (and tortured) in Israeli prisons."

COMMENT: It's irresponsible to simply put out, much less endorse,an allegation that Israel has tortured prisoners, particularlysince, applied by critics to Israel, the term 'torture' has beenstretched rather far from its usual meaning.
Nor should a responsible editor allow such an undetailedaccusation to hide in a book review.
One needs to know what acts are alleged

(sleep deprivation?
electric shock to the genitals, from a field telephone?

(rather a staple of the Green Berets in Vietnam, and ofmost USA client states in Central America).

And then one needs to know the response to that accusation fromthe accused party (Israel) and from presumably disinterestedobservors
l2
(eg Amnesty International,

which is usually rather efficient at sending out anUrgent Action bulletin in response to what it considersa reasonable possibility that a prisoner has beentortured.)
