The American: The World's only Sunday Newspaper for Travelers andResidents Abroad. Israel NIS 16. Published 52 Sundays a Yearby the American, LLC, 110 Mill Road, Westhampton Beach NY 11978USA. President and Publisher: Hesh Kestin. Tel: +1-516-2884622; FAX: +1-516--288-4622; E-Mail: newstaff@sundayamerican.com

SUMMARY: An entirely derivative pop rehash of features with abit of news. Hesh Kestin should be urged to use better-informedand more objective Israel correspondents, rather than relying onwire service reporters. Tourist attractions are listed in 23European countries, from Iceland to Russia and Finland to Greece;Israel not.

EVALUATION:

Well, get it while it lasts;
a sort of weekly USA Today with a dash of National Enquirer;loaded with colour paste-ups; like The Nation (of Petah Tikva) --
l2
the right-wing alternative to The Jerusalem Post, beforePeres, that well-known visionary, divested it)
l1
this paper seems to have started with a bang and is bound to endwith a whimper.
As memory serves, Hesh Kestin was Publisher of The Nation (ofPetah Tikva); they bought lots of PCs and Dry Bones and wentbroke.

CRITICISM OF ARTICLE:

Ok, there's one bland article about the Tunnel Crisis, with a fewmistakes. It's by Jerome Socolovskky and Anthony Shadid, of the
Associated Press.

"The Western Wall, the most sacred site in Judaim, is believed tobe the outer wall of the temple."
l2
More precisely, Temple Mount is the most sacred site inJudaism, and the Western Wall was the western retaining wallof the expanded Herodian Temple Mount.
l1

"Most [Jews who have tried to pray on Temple Mount] wereassociated with underground groups that have tried to blow up themount in the past, but were thwarted by Israeli security. It issuch groups that Palestinians fear most.

l2
COMMENT: As memory serves, one individual made one attempt.
It's not clear who said that "it is such groups thatPalestinans fear most"; reporting. it ain't: The PLO hasbecome rather good at crafting crises from thin air, to beconveyed by passive reporters to a sensationalistic press.
l1
Chairperson Poopoohead is said to have "appealed for calm, andordered the amred police under his command to use force, ifnecessary [up to and including a firm shove, one may presume] tostop the rioting. But his pleases were ignored in many areas ..."
l2
COMMENT: Poopoohead as Noble Peace Laureate. He is howeveron record as having called upon the Palestinians, a few daysbefore the riots, to "kill and be killed."
l1
"The shifting loyalties demonstrated the depth of anger amongPalestinians..."
l2
COMMENT: Lo the Noble Savage: The Oppressed of the Earthshake off their chains.
More precisely, are sent out under threat of death as cannonfodder by corrupt millionaire professional terrorirstoligarchs.
