It appears to be an NYT editorial policy, at least in articles inthe Weekly Review, to use the term 'Party of G_d' for`Hizballah'.
Leaves the rest of us at a bit of a disadvantage, ratherscrambling for leftover terms. Might be an appropriate term touse in the Roman Senate (had they not run into a spot of bad luckand had to recess 1400 years ago); or possibly to impress anunusually difficult headwaiter.
Although there are strong Islamic taboos on the way in whichone may reference the Prophet of Islam, I'd not heard ofrestrictions (which, if they obtained, would be analogous to therestrictions in Judaism) on the use of their term for Deity.

So it would seem that this editorial gesture could count asone more shot of small-arms fire in the slowly growing GlobalVillage Media Crusade/Jihad .
Nowadays, wars are fought primarily on CNN, although Israelhasn't quite noticed.
(Peres, as Foreign Minister, disbanded the office ofInformation (Hasbara), although under the Likud it had donepractically nothing noticeable to combat international mediadepiction of the intifada as the Grapes of Wrath of the Oppressedof the Earth & all that.)

We lost the intifada on ABC-TV, and will probably loseOperation Raisinbrains on CNN.

"THE FIX WAS IN" or
THE TROTS WERE RIGHT; It's an International Capitalist Plot

It's my impression (I've not kept up with even CNN Headline News, much less major interantional TV) is that what's striking here isthat this incident has been allowed to die out as a media-event,rather than being stoked. Like Farmer Eitan said, if it hadhappened under a Likud administration, we'd never here the end ofit. And like Comrade Sarid has said, although unusually quietly,it was an outrageous, albeit unintentional, violation of humanrights, that ought not be disregarded.
Clearly, once again, "the Fix is In" , as it was with thesurprisingly muted media response to Rabin (some say: Barak)'sdeportation of 400 Hamas Accountants, an outrageous andintentional violation of non-citizen civil liberties.

If my assessment is in bounds, then that's an interestingpoint, because it seems to indicate that anti-Israel (crypto-antiSemitic (Cf. JP Letters 4/22 (Oakley)) bias in the internationalmedia is not an expression of some sort of instinctual invincibleignorance of the goyim, but rather a reflection of USA-dominatedWestern-bloc foreign policy.
