"RUMOURS", "CRITICS", AND THE PHANTOM TAXI-DRIVER:
Media-bias as its own subject-matter

The Arts: "Under Ghandi's Shadow" (Marantz) JR 2/10/94:

Beats the drum, ineptly, in an attempt to push the Eretz Israelmuseum to a position which nobody in Meretz could deem politicallyincorrect. But it might do the job; a bit of pressure on the weakpoints of a new mayor.

Despite a swipe of the old tar-brush as Ze'evi (spelt "Zeevy",which should sound groovy in L.A.)
l2
("Rumours also swirled that Zeevy was connected to organizedcrime, and that then-mayor Shomo "Chich" Lahat appointed himbefcause he owed him favors dating back to the days when theywere generals together...")

the worst accusations seem to be the name -- Eretz Yisrael ratherthan Ha'aretz -- and an implication that Jerusalem is part ofIsrael:
l2
"Yet its current exhibit, 'Jerusalem and Zion', has criticsgrumbling that the timing of the show is a defiant statemetnabout the central status of the capital city during the peacenegotiations."

Well, that's the writing on the wall; read it and weep, wail, ororganize.

I doubt I've got the energy to shovel letter-to-the-editor at theJlem Report; it's 70s yuppie and everything comes out editted intopablum; recruit a dozen little old ladies in tennis shoes to doit.
