TEXT:
English TV news reported the PLO demonstration in Jericho 11/23 as3,000; English radio news (07:00) 11/24 reported that it was "saidto be attended by" 5,000.

COMMENT:
Sole Legitmate Representative of the Palestinian People HisExcellency Chairperson Buckstopshere had tried to bus in and turnout 10,000 in order to match the Hamas Gaza demonstration.
On 11/24 Norway reportedly gave him $10,000,000, which ought to beenough for a few demonstrations of popular support, includingadministrative (security) expenses.

1) LEBANON:

Noting the 51st anniversary of Lebanese "Independence", it notesthat Lebanon is still a battleground, with guerillas attackingIsraeli troops. Syria was not mentioned.
In short, the implication was that Lebanon is not independentbecause it is partially occupied by Israel; and that the guerillasattacking Israeli troops are attempting to restore nationalindependence to Lebanon.

COMMENT:
l2
The Iran-supplied Syrian-backed paramilitary forcesattempting by a campaign of attrition to trigger politicalpressure to force Israel to withdraw from the southernLebanon 8-mile (?) security strip cannot precisely be termed'terrorists', since they do not target civillians. And theycannot precisely be termed 'guerillas', since they are notacting on behalf of the nation in which they are active.
l3
(More precisely: they are ostensibly attempting toremove Israeli occupation from southern Lebanon, but inthe realizaiton that that power vacuum would then befilled by Syria; and seem primarily interested not inreturning it to the Lebanese, but in using it as apotential terrorist base from which to harass Israel.

2) NETZARIM:
Converage of the attack on the IDF Netzarim guardposts seemed toemphasize that soldiers had retreated from stone-throwers(relative numbers of each were not mentioned.)

COMMENT: Intifada nostalgia?

I've been mailing these notes (without response) to Jlem Post, Eyeon Media; if you'd like a set, let me know.

As bias goes, it's relatively subtle.
A lot of the bias, which I haven't traced, is "friendly bias", iecoaching Israel on what it should give away next.

I'm not now regularly following any other foreign-oriented media, apart from the Jlem Report.

N.B.: At your convenience, would you send me a list of whateverR. Shlomo materials -- Hebrew & English; transcripts, tapes, andesp. etc.; and especically anthing on disc Hebrew & English -- youknow of. I'm trying to update the inventory I made of same. Ihave and will continue to share all information I have with theCarlebach Foundation; and have waived any personal interest in thematter.
