TEXT: Valerie York, identified today as with the "Economistintelligence unit" [The term 'London Economist' was not used]concurs with the interviewer that in confirming Jordaniantrusteeship over Temple Mount Israel was "mischief-making", ietrying to foment dissention between the PLO and Jordan.
She also notes a rather divisive suggestion by a Jordanianrepresentative some years ago, writing in Foreign Affairs (if Irecall her words), that in carving up Jerusalem the Old City mightbe treated as a seperate unit.

COMMENTS:

1) Last time I listened, Valerie York was identified merely as anexpert on the Middle East. Perhaps she's with Britishintelligence, if that's not a contradiction in terms.

In any event, it seems that in this interview the tail wagged thedog: that is, that the interviewee had previously fed theinterviewer a leading question.

The intent of this semi-official 2-person monologue was tosuggest that the recent Chairperson-orchestrated antiJordanian riots in Nablus etc.
l3
-- surely a made-for-TV mini-mini-series --
l2
were due to Israel's mischief-making.

In short, Chairperson Sleazeball turned on the riots, got Jordan to in effect reverse its position on TempleMount, turned off the riots, and made a U-turn. The PLOhas no quarrel with Jordan, the PLO has never had aquarrel with Jordan, and anything that looks differentis an Israeli plot.
