How we met

Their eyes met across the crowded room, and they knew it was love at first sight....
No, it didn't really happen like THAT!! The real story is even more amazing!

Both of us are really into computers.  I have had the ICQ program on my computer for a couple years now,  Scott was pretty new to ICQ.  I had been working diligently on a web page for my dad, so I was spending alot of time on the computer.  On day, sometime in late April, or early May, as I was sitting online working on my page, and someone sent me a random message.  This is an option on ICQ where you can let random people send you messages, and choose if you want to respond.  Hmmmm, I thought,  this person sounds really nice,  he sent me a nice message saying "hi" and just seems like he wants to talk.  So, we talked awhile, had a nice chat and said goodnight. Before we left, we added each other to our respective lists.

After that day, I would sometimes see Scott online, and we might chat.  We exchanged pictures fairly early on.   I liked his ALOT!  I thought he was very nice looking (I found out he looks even better in person!) About a week after we first started talking,  Scott told me he had met another woman online, that he had met her, and gone out to dinner with her, and had even delivered flowers to her work. Oh great! I thought, he has found someone else!  Guess I let that one slip away.  Very soon after that, my computer suffered a MAJOR malfunction, and I could not get online at all for about a week or 10 days.  Needless to say, I was going kinda nuts!  Finally, I got the whole thing straightened out and got back online.  And when I did ( it was a Friday morning, I remember),  there was Scott online.  We talked a bit, and he said he would like it alot if I would call him.  I really didn't think it was a good idea.  I knew he lived in Rome, GA,  and I had recently broken up with someone that also lived quite a distance away from me, and I was not too excited to go through all that again.  But I found out (and have found out MANY times since then) that Scott can be VERY charming and persuasive!  Well, needless to say, I called, and when I heard that wonderful deep voice with the soft southern accent, I knew I HAD to meet him!

We talked several times more on the phone, and made plans to meet the following weekend in Knoxville.  Well,  Saturday morning came and we met in Knoxville for breakfast, which led to us spending the day together in Gatlinburg.  It poured rain, but we had a wonderful time.  We spent the day talking about our likes and dislikes,  the things we had in common (which were many), and the things we disagreed on as well (which were not too many).  Well, I wouldn't believe it was possible, but things have just gotten better and better since then.  We have talked many hours, about everything under the sun.  I have met his family (and I like them very much), and he has met mine, and they agree with me that I am a much better and happier person since he has been in my life.  I feel very fortunate,  very spoiled, and very loved.    I am grateful every day that I made that phone call, and that he wanted me to!  So now I get the best of all worlds, a chance to love again, and I am sure we will make it work.  Most of all, though,  I get to do something that few people get a chance to do;  I am marrying my best friend.
