Some tips on enjoying

your fighter kite...

Learn to self launch:
This is essential. The most fool-proof method I've dubbed “from the foot”.(Place the ripstop fighter on the ground, top point facing away, tail gently held under your toe, bridle side up. Have the line in your hand and tight. Step backward and flick up with your hand, and let out line as soon as you can).

This isn't really appropriate for tissue fighters, where launching from the hand is best. If you need to rely on props or other people you really cut down on your opportunities to fly.

Keep a fighter in the boot:
Especially when learning, you need lots of space and the wind to be just right. If you have a fighter and line in the boot of your car at all times then you can take advantage of these good conditions: At the beach, On a picnic, At lunch time, After work, Before work, Instead of work!

...and once your skills have improved you'll be able to fly even when the conditions are far from perfect but life is telling you that it's time you spent some time flying a kite! (The wind is just right when leaves and small twigs are in constant motion...)
