Part I - Break: Although we'd played around randomly several times before, our major story arc began early one lazy Saturday morning with the two of us just piddling around, weaving IC into what we were doing OOC in front of the computer (my partner in crime happily munching a sub for breakfast, me lounged out in the butterfly chair). Little did we know this would turn into some of the most interesting character development we've had so far.
At this point, neither of us is really sure where this
is set in the grand scheme of things, be it space or surface Earth,
nor do we know how well this fits into canon timeline. About all
we have figured out is that this takes place after the destruction
of Wufei's colony (Episode 35) and before the larger battle at
the end of the series.
OOC comments are noted as such and placed in parentheses, and
are only left in if they are truly relevant to the scene. Screen
names are removed, not to protect the innocent (because we
aren't) but to keep some degree of anonymity.
Recommended listening: "Fragile" by Sting.
Part II - Fallout: My partner in crime and I decided that we absolutely had to continue along this thread after the utter coolness of the previous scene. At some point, we broke off what we were doing and at a much, much later date continued our exercise in madness. Here you can see a very obvious break in the mood, from quiet tenseness to unnecessary anger. I attribute it to the both of us having a particularly stressful week at our respective jobs, and needing to release some of our frustrations IC. Duo does say a few things that set Wufei off, and subsequently Wufei says things that get under Duo's skin. I don't think either of us even realize OOCly what the exact triggers are for the other, which makes this scening all the more interesting.
It's still a bit of an odd break, though. But it leads to such interesting implications and continued character development, so I'm not complaining about it too much. ;)
Recommended listening: "Crawling" by Linkin Park
Part III - Release: By now, both our Inner Whatevers (as we call them when the need to hide among the Muggles is necessary) are damn well stressed. The beginning of this scene was hours in the making, with both of us taking much more time than usual to craft and perfect each pose. Re-reading it, it's difficult to imagine the tense anticipation that came with every pose, neither of us very sure where the other would take the scene next. Perhaps it's a little slow in the beginning, but we've acknowledged that each character is infinitely stubborn and not likely to give in easily. On the other hand, both of the boys are very obviously exhausted with the effort to remain angry, so the walls are, perhaps, much more easily broken down. And once they get going...
* Note: This scene is currently unfinished.
Recommended listening: None yet. But I'm sure we'll think of something. I've been on a Linkin Park kick lately, though, so don't be surprised if another one of their songs is tossed in. ;)
