Summary of the Confederate Pension Application that was filed by James O. Hawkins



The Indigent Soldier Pension Act was approved May 12, 1899. James was in Company K, 26 th (Debray's) Regiment of the Texas Calvery from 1861 to duration of the war. He applied for a pension February 5, 1900. The information he gave about his health on the application was that his physical condition was bad. He had old age lung trouble and loss of eyesight. At the time of his application he was a resident of Falls County and had been in that county for twelve years. His application was approved by the pension clerk on March 15, 1900.



Summary of th Indigent Widows pension that was filed by Clara Hawkins.


Clara applied for a pension January 14, 1908. She gave her age at 58 and she filed in Navarro County. The date of death that she gave for James was December 24, 1907. She gave her P.O. address as Blooming Grove, Texas. She said she had been in this county more than five years. Her pension was approved March 21, 1908.



Application for a Mortuary Warrant


A mortuary warrant was filed by J. E. Hawkins (Jacob Eaton) on May 27, 1924. He stated that he was the person responsible for paying her accounts and debts. Clara died in the home of C. C. Hawkins (Clarence) near the town of Lorena in McLennan County, Texas. A copy of a check was attached in the amount of $14.25 that Clara had recieved on November 30, 1915
