Entry for April 20, 2007
Rain has been with us here most of today-and for me it's a very welcome sight & sound-I've always loved the sound of rain hitting the windows. The thoughts of the Virginia Tech tragedy is very much on my mind-I feel so badly for the family & friends of those now gone. On a much lighter note,I pulled off a doozy at work yesterday- a co worker had left a box of Lo-quats on a table for who ever wanted to take some home. A woman I'd never seen before strolled in & stared at the fruit, asking me "what is that? I've never seen those before" Well, my quick mind came up with something in a flash. I told her the fruit was native to New Mexico-the plants had sprouted about a month after the mysterious crashes at Roswell in the 1940's near the crash site, and that this "Roswell fruit" had become a staple of the New Mexico state economy. Well much to my amazement, the woman bought it hook line & sinker. She eyed the fruit in awe,as tho she was gazing at a mineral sample from the moon. I had a good chuckle on that one. Musically speaking,I received my book of Celtic Mandolin by Allan Alexander today-most anxious to go thru the book & start learning tunes. I also printed out an application to the CMSA & figure with my extra $$,I can pay yearly dues with no problem. More rain is due tonight, and with any luck, some thunder storms. I've missed not hearing thunder of late,an it would be a welcome change.
