See how a musician/Bard goes thru her daily adventures!
Entry for April 07, 2007
Well I got around to learning "Cobblers' Hornpipe" on the mando-what's really odd is the tonal quality on my "A" mando is improving-I didn't like the tone when it was new,so I don't know if this is due to changing to med gauge strings or the wood is aging well. The tune I mentioned above is very Ren and very addictive! I'm thinking of getting a fiddle to play on as well-I've been curious about it for years and I've adopted the belief to just go ahead & try different instruments. If I get a fiddle & don't like it I can always sell it.
I saw a book at a yard sale to day & picked it up-it's called "The Mysticism of Sound & Music" crazy as it sounds,I saw the book from a good distance away and immediatly felt I had to go get it-before
I could even see what the title was. It's a Sufi book. After getting it home,I leafed thru the pages & this sentence caught my eye...something about as the musician tuned his instrument he also tuned his soul or some such... and that really resonated a chord within. I think this will be most helpful in my musical /bardic studies, tho I am not Sufi.
