Fullerton Building - Ti's Favourite - Then and Now - In Pictures
![]() ![]() Hi everyone! I finally snapped few photos of Ti's favourite building - The Fullerton with the position based on old photos I retreived from the National Archives . Its kinda interesting to observe the changes that time has made. I should admit that I am not a professional photographer, and the position where I snapped the photos might not be the exact position that the photographers long time ago chose their spot. But its fun, amid the hot sun. And my experience was that ...if you stand still in the middle of the Cavenagh Bridge for quite some time, you could feel the bridge is swaying, up and down. Lets begin our view from the Esplanade (which they called it Queen Elisabeth Walk ..long time ago).....for now. ![]() Esplanade - 1954

As you can see, in 1954, the only skyscraper building behind Fullerton is the Bank Of China. Fifty-two years later, more buildings being built. The Bank of China is still there...but is now taller!! ![]() Esplanade - 1930's

You may noticed that in 1930s, the Anderson Bridge was painted black. The Bank Of China was not being built yet, instead, the building to the right of Fullerton was Whiteway and Laidlaw Building which was much older than Fullerton. Whiteway and Laidlaw Bulding is no longer there and the spot now stands the 175 metres Maybank Tower with 32 floors. Another significant change is that the river was wider then now. Take a closer look and you'll agree. We will continue our journey to get a closer look at Fullerton by crossing the river by Cavenagh Bridge soon. Stay tune!!
