Some of my faithful readers asked me what is Shiraz?
Shiraz is the Australian name for the French red grape Syrah. Actually it is a clone grape, grown locally in Australia... cloned to make the vine more robust in Australian weather. If you are in Australia, Shiraz is the main variety of red wine served here.
Another question people usually ask me (cheh as if I am the expert) is about the sweetness of wine. The correct term for wine that is less sweet is dry wine. I always prefer dry wine because it does not interfere with the taste of my dinner.
