I had to do it again...
Well, it rained cats and dogs today which was probably the best news for the folks in the Darling Downs. It's been so dry and two towns were evacuated earlier this week as they ran out of water. It rained in Toowoomba too. I was there the whole morning and afternoon doing the fortnightly groceries.
As you can see my fridge is well-stocked with fresh vegetables and fruits. Meat isn't too visible in the picture but it's there and well, I have more in my mini-larder.
Had an enjoyable day. It was so fun to do groceries in a German supermarket, an Asian grocer and a Bottle Shop (that's what they call the liquor stores in Aussie). Bought a bottle of Chardonay and a bottle of Shiraz for a total of AUD 9. Cheap, well hope they're good. Stocking up a bit as I'm expecting visitors in May. In fact the highlight of my Saturday afternoon was lunch. We sat down to a jazzy serenade in Cafe Forte which serves my favourite Segafredo Zanetti coffee. Yum.... Shared an italian chicken pizza and a plate of sumptious whiting (fish) with chips. The garlic bread was so light, fluffy and generous. What a beautiful, relaxing and smooth hour we had.
So what was it that I had to do again? Somehow the rain had affected my internet connection. The other day I blamed it on the power cut at the camp, but today, it was definitely the rain. It was too rainy and cold to step out and fix the router, so I called my cousin to chit chat. We talked for an hour!
I felt really miserable when I finished my Optus credit. No internet, no handphone credit. How terrible. I finally told myself that I had to go fix the router. Even if there was a hurricane out there, I had to do it or suffer cold turkey the whole night without the internet.
Out into the cold, damp night, into the camp kitchen, reset the router and hey, I'm online again!
Well, if I was willing to sacrifice going into the cold, damp night a few hours ago, I would have not called my cousin. Wow, I guess it was good to lose the internet for a while after all.
Wonder how my friends in Gold Coast are doing? I really hope it wasn't raining there as well. My cousin said it did rain a bit in Brisbane. Sighs... But for the Queensland folk, this is an answer to prayer! So let it rain, let it rain, let it rain!
