Bales of hay... rolls of hay?

Well, when I have the opportunity, I'm gonna take a photo of the spectacular scenery I'll never see in Malaysia...rolls of hay on the open fields in Chinchilla. It just goes on for miles and miles, acres upon acres...

For now, I'll leave you with the above picture...

I put on my thinking cap today and thought about several issues engineers should be aware of. ENGINEERS, are you LISTENING?

  • They don't teach you everything you need to know in University. Take for instance, cooking. If you are cast away to a remote corner, then you'll probably have to cook your meals, because by the time you're out from site anyway... the shops are all c-l-o-s-e-d.
  • If you think you speak English, it's time you learn to speak English culturally as well. It's the one and the same language but there are various expressions from culture to culture... Being in Australia, I realise how "Americanized" we, Malaysians are... We're so used to watching Hollywood that we'll be culturally-shocked when we listen to an Aussie speak. hahaha... G'day mate! How'r'you mate! I can understand their slang with some effort, but they find it hard to understand me anyway... haha...
  • Oh ho! SO you think you only need to know the technical stuff. Well, it's a good thing I've been familiar with spare parts back home, because the Aussies don't say ferrules, they say bootlaces... Well, I think my colleagues will be quite amused by this anyway... Say mate, do you have any bootlaces on you? (Good thing back home I am used to typing "bootlace ferrules" in those PRs...
  • You need to become a blogger! So that you can connect and stay connected.
  • And the most important thing of all, hey engineers, are you tuned in to me? Well, please don't ever think for one second that you're not the "survivor", "amazing race" or "fear factor" kind... Because one day, you might just need to be that kind to TOTALLY ENJOY YOURSELF when you've got the weekend off. To totally immerse yourself in doing something crazy, pump some adrenalin and take some pictures to upload them in your next blog...
  • Er... hehe... I haven't done the last bit. Does gawking at Mat Salleh count?
