Skiing Holidays
A blog about skiing in the French Alps.
French resorts remain the most popular

Despite some rather dubious snow conditions this winter, it is not all doom and gloom for the French skiing holiday industry; in fact, guests numbers have actually gone up in a number of our favourite ski resorts.

Holiday rental specialists Interhome have recently revealed their top winter holiday destinations, and it is Tignes that reigns supreme in 2007, climbing 3 places compared with last year and ursurping the Swiss resort of Nadaz.

The French resort enjoyed a massive 61% increase in year-on-year bookings through Interhome, who handle 5,000 ski properties. Director of the company,Madeleine Winship, commented, "Tignes is high up and offers glacier skiing - an added bonus in a season when snow conditions have been unpredictable."

Another French resort to have enjoyed increased business through Interhome is Chatel, and there have also been upswings for Verbier (Switzerland), Zell Am Zee (Austria), and Grindelwald (Switzerland).

Interhome's figures also reveal that most winter holiday bookings are for the traditional duration of one week, but short breaks have increased by 19.5%. The popular resort of Chamonix in the French Alps topped the poll for the most short break business.
