What I learned on arriving in California
I first learned on arriving in California...
- Assured clear distance is about 2ft instead of the normal 3ft in Columbus...
- Trucks in California require 30inch chrome rims and about 9 out of 10 trucks have the rims
- Marin is not pronounced like the fish but rather Mah-reen
- While it is sunny it is not warm, a cool bay breeze makes it rather chilly. CA is a huge state it may be warm down in So-Cal (Southern California for anyone not up on the abbreviations) but year round Baywatch this is not.
- Traffic is bad most of the time
- Crowds are bad most of the time
- Later in the evenings is the exception to crowds and traffic
- Water = West, Mountains = East (I knew that one already really)
- Hippies are hard to find, as I have not seen one yet, but I did see a homeless man that looked like Santa Claus, there are a lot of homeless people.
- Cars with alarms get really defensive around a U-haul, as every car with an alarm barked at us when we went up the hill
- Driving straight up hills is crazy and to be avoided whenever possible
- Roads are very narrow, and curvy, and steep. Thank God, and my parents, for not having a big vehicle!
- A lot of people actually exercise outside by running and biking...on the hills.
- Finally (for now), we are all just as crazy and quirky as the Californians...there are just a whole lot more of them.
