COOKIES FAVORITE CHEESE TREATS!

You are listening to some good ole' Heart Of The Country Cookin' Music!!

WOULDN'T WANT YOU TO GET BORED WITH THE MUSIC!

1 Cup Uncooked Oatmeal
1 1/2 Cups Hot Water, Meat Juices, or reconstituted Gravy Mix
1 Cup Grated Cheese
1 Egg, Beaten
1/4 Cup Margarine or Crisco Sticks
1/2 Cup Powdered Milk
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Cornmeal
3 Cups Whole Wheat Flour** Rice Flour may be substituted

Using a large bowl, pour your hot water/meat juice/gravy, over the Oatmeal and margerine, and let it stand for about 5 minutes.
Next, stir in the powdered milk, grated cheese, salt and egg. Add the cornmeal and wheat germ and mix well.
Add the flour, 1/3 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Knead 3 or 4 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to make it into a very stiff dough.

Roll the dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into bone shaped biscuits using a bone cookie cutter....or, if you prefer, you may break of bits of dough, roll in your hands, and flatten them to the 1/2 inch thickness.
Place these on a greased baking sheet and bake for 1 hour at 300 degrees in the center of the oven.

After 1 hour, turn off the heat and leave the pan in the oven for about another hour or so to totally harden them and dry them out.

This recipe makes about 2 1/4 lbs of yummy treats for your dog!

The treats may be stored, once cooled, in a covered container on your shelf or in the favorite COOKIE JAR of your choice!!
