The Texas Rangers starting pitcher Kevin Millwood did it again...yes you guessed it he lossed. He got the Rangers in a 6 run hole and only lasted 4 and a third innings. What am I getting tired of right now and all i have to do is say two words STARTING PITCHING. The Rangers have the worst era amongst starters in MLB...even worse than the ever so BAD Kansas City Royals...but the relief pitching is outstanding.

The question is can the Rangers get a good starting pitcher for either Eric Gagne or Akinori Otsuka? The Rangers in my opinion could get at least three quality starters out of those two guys combined. I think that Gagne with his 0.56 ERA and his five saves could get the Rangers two quality starters and Akinori could get the Rangers at least one more. Now what do i think is going to happen? The Rangers are going to trade Eric Gagne for two quality starters at least that is what they should do...but Gagne will NOT be a Ranger at the end of this season. The Rangers have a good closer in Otsuka and will give that role back to him at the time of the trade and I think that will give Joaquin Benoit the shot at the Setup role. Do I think the Rangers bullpen is going to be shookup before the trade deadline? Of course I do because the Rangers need quality starters that can get them through the rest of the season.

On a sad note, the Rangers put first baseman Mark Teixeira on the fifteen day DL I believe last friday with a very sore calf muscle. Mark knew that it was going to happen at some point and knew that he would not pass Cal Jr. in the most consecutive games played. The streak ended for Mark at somewhere in the 5 hundred and teens.
