The Texas Rangers had a very productive weekend against the Milwalkee Brewers. The Rangers took the first game in good fashion and did not look back from there. Then the second game on Saturday came along and the Rangers were down 3-0 in the bottom of the ninth when the Brewers brought in former Rangers closer CoCo Cordero and the bottom fell out from there when the Rangers scored 4 runs and got the win 4-3. Then on Sunday the Rangers took it to the twelth inning and Willie Eyre gave up the 3 run jack to lose the game.
The Rangers did pick up a backup catcher from the Oakland Atheletics Adam Melhuse for cash considerations. The Rangers were in the need of a backup catcher that could really help out Gerald Laird and he was brought to Texas just for that. He will play at least 2 games a week and will be used to mentor Gerald Laird who has had his struggles this year. When ask about coming to Texas Melhuse said that he thinks manager Ron Washington had everything to do with him coming to this organization. Melhuse was only used in 11 games this season and he loved Oakland at least everything about it except the playing time. Ron Washington said that when he heard that Melhuse was available he told the front office of the Rangers to go get him. I honestly think this is a bold move by Ron to make sure that the Rangers have someone to mentor a catcher who has struggled.
Well the Rangers are off today and will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Pirates. The Rangers will send out Kevin Millwood in a game that they hope he can go and pound these guys. SO good luck guys and hopefully this season is starting to turn around.
