Rangers hand it to Houston over weekend

Well finally some good news for the Texas Rangers and that is they now have the edge in the Lone Star Series. The Rangers won the series against the Astros with timely hitting and pitching that made the Astros wish they were playing a NL team. The Rangers in game one of the series won it 7-4 and got home runs off the bats of newcomers Nelson Cruz and Ramon Vasquez. The two players were called up from Triple A to replace Hank Blalock who is going to have surgery on his shoulder again today. The Rangers pitching in game one was pretty good also in that Robinson Tejada who was pushed back a few days to heal the hamstring he was having problems with went a little over 5 plus innings of no hit baseball. He was chased out of the game though when Craig Biggio got a hit and then he walked the next two batters. Scott Feldman came in and gave up four runs but that was not enough for the Astros to come back to win. On another note, Eric Gagne came in the game and saved his second game of the season.

In game two of the series the Texas Rangers looked ok through three innings having a tied game at one a piece but in the 5th inning the Rangers gave up 5 runs and it was lights out from there for the Houston Astros. The Rangers started John Koronka that night on a one time deal and it was not what he was expecting dating back to last year he has lost 5 games in a row that he has pitched in. Three runs come across on HORRIBLE calls on the umpires though one of the calls was a clear out and how would I know I was at the game I saw it. I think the crazy umpire thought there were less outs then what there was and thought the third baseman had to tag the player, but it was the third out it is a force out you DON"T have to tag a player. Travis Metcalf got his Rangers debut at third base and it was said by the manager that the Rangers would platoon both Vasquez and Metcalf in the place of Hank Blalock who is expected to miss 10-12 weeks.

Well on Sunday what else can you say other than the Rangers handed the Astros there worse loss of the season with a 14-1 win. Rangers pitcher Brandon McCarthy is now 3-0 in the month of May and has evened his record to 4-4. The Rangers bats are what we should talk about here lets start with Mark Teixeira who went 4-6 with two hr's and had 4 RBI's, then you have Victor Diaz who was 4-5 and also had a pair of hr's, then there was Kenny Lofton the oldest man on the team who stole a base and had a hr, and then Ramon Vasquez had a two run homerun. The Rangers lead all of baseball with the most long balls and now have 60 homeruns this year. The only Astros run came in like the second inning when the Astros Hunter Pence who yes is a Arlington native got a triple and then Luke Scott drove him in with a single.

The games on Friday and Saturday were really fun getting to sit along the first base side on Friday and just having a good ole time rooting for the Rangers and watching them win. Saturday was also fun with a concert that was before the game and then getting to watch the Ranger players warm up and stretch and do all their fun activities, but most of all getting three Rangers autographs on Saturday whom I would like to give a special thanks to these Rangers: C.J. Wilson, Wes Littleton, and Frank Francisco. The game was also fun but the outcome on Saturday was not what we had expected but hey they came back on Sunday and CRUSHED the Houston Astros. I will have to say this to Astros fans what would you rather have a whole state to root for(ie the Texas Rangers) or just a city(ie the Houston Astros). Well better luck to the Houston Astros cause they are going to need it and hopefully this is a start to a season that is going to bring the playoffs back to the Great State of Texas and the city of Arlington. So guys let's keep it going so we can SEE YOU IN THE PLAYOFFS.
