The Rangers on Sunday took the sweep over the Toronto Blue Jays and how did they do it? They did it with great starting pitching and timely hitting. The Texas Rangers in the games over the weekend sent Padilla, McCarthy, and Loe to the mound and all three got wins...Why? Because they had excellent stuff and the bats were there to back them up. The Rangers even got to one of major league baseballs best pitchers on Saturday Roy Halladay and he gave up 9 runs and the Rangers went on to win that game 11-4. The Rangers are seriously starting to come together as a team and are figuring out what it takes to get wins. In the sweep though the three highlighted players in my opinion would have to be Lofton(2hrs), Texeira(3hrs), and Michael Young(3hrs) including the game winning home run yesterday off of Toronto's AJ Burnett. The Rangers bats are now starting to come alive and now if they continue this hot streak I am telling you they will be ONE OF THE MOST FIERCE teams in the major leagues.
The Rangers did get a little bit of bad news though on Saturday and that is that GM Jon Daniels and manager Ron Washington have decided to put Kevin Millwood on the DL. Kevin Millwood was NOT happy with the decision and has let the Rangers know about it... but Washington said it best when he said that if he stuck around he would just be sitting around being a pest. This is the only thing about Washington I do NOT understand someone tells him they are ok and he still puts them on the DL. It is a learning experience for him as a manager also so I guess that would have to do alot with it.
The Rangers are off today and will play the NY Yankees in NY coming up starting on Tuesday. The Rangers will send out Mike Wood for his second outing as a Ranger in the spot of Kevin Millwood and the NY Yankees will send out long time Roger Clemens fan and sometimes lover Andy Pettitte. The Rangers will look to run their winning streak to four games in a row and I sure the HAY hope they shell Andy Pettitte...SO SEE YOU IN NY BOYZ.
