Ok, just when the Rangers thought that they were going to get a break...their bullpen blows it. The Texas Rangers going into the sixth inning had a 3-3 tie when the manager went to Scott Feldman in the bullpen to get three quick outs. He decided in the eighth to go with him also and with 2 runners on Feldman hung a sinker and Jermaine dye went deep. The Rangers up to that point were doing just fine...other than Padilla's six walks.
The Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington is taking the blame for this one because he states clearly that he second guessed himself. Bet you he won't do that again...he thought of going with Benoit and Otsuka and Gagne..but instead left Feldman in to breakdown. The truth of the matter is yes he may have made a mistake but he totally can't take the blame for this one...the Rangers offense needs to come up in runs in these situations, and they didn't so they are partially to blame also.
The Rangers Sammy Sosa went deep for the fourth time this season and is now only 8 away from his landmark 600. Not only that but the bats that had been cooled off before this game also got hot. Michael Young, Sammy Sosa, and Hank Blalock were among the guys who needed to prove they could hang and make this offense explosive and they did their part. Honestly this is a new nucleus of guys and until they learn that they can work together then it will take sometime to get the bats hot, but once they do they will remain hot.
The Rangers will take on an old foe to Manager Ron Washington as the Rangers send out the 1-2 McCarthy against the 1-0 Blanton for the Oakland Athletics. This will be a good time for the Rangers bats to start getting hot. They lost two of three in Seattle and don't want that to happen at home against the Athletics. The Rangers are currently in third place at 6-9 by two games to the Oakland Athletics. So guys let's get em done and make something of this homestand. Until next time see YOU IN THE PLAYOFFS.
