Rangers get Broussard from Seattle but decide not to non tender Otsuka

The Texas Rangers in a move to make the team a little better and to acquire a first baseman that they have been so longing for this offseason is finally done. The Rangers had been for the last several weeks been inquiring about the Mariners first baseman and former Texas Longhorn Ben Broussard and finally got a deal done last night that would bring the fellow texan back to his home state to play for the team that he grew up rooting for. The Rangers did have to depart with giving up a young prospect Tug Hulett who is 24 years old and was not really performing for the Rangers organization.

On a somewhat sad note, the Rangers did decide not to non tender Akinori Otsuka who now has the opportunity to go into free agency and look at other teams. The Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said that it was a very difficult thing to do but said it had to be done considering he had not pitched off of a mound since b4 the all star break last yr. Now what do I think of it? I think that the Rangers did decide to do the right thing on this front and on the first base front the Rangers are still looking at other things they might do in the offseason but little points in the way of them doing much...question for the season is: Can the Rangers hang with the best of them...we will see next year huh? Well stay tuned to this blog for more up to date minute by minute information on YOUR TEXAS RANGERS.
