12 hours at the temples- July 24, 2006
photo

This morning we got up at 4:30am, our wake up call never came but my $3 big pink watch that I bought in Bangkok saved the day. Our driver picked us up at 5am and we made it to Banteay Srei, 32 km north of Siem Reap, where we were the first to arrive.  This temple has incredible carvings . By 8am it was off to the Kbal Spean another 15 km down a bumpy wet road.  When we arrived  our driver  and the temple police showed us the path.  I didn't think it would be that challenging since the guidebook said," A 30 minute scenic jungle trek from the parking lot."  I was wrong, it took me about an hour and Bryan had to keep stopping along the way, but he got a lot of great pics in.  It was worth the hike, we saw intricate river bed carvings and some restoration in progress.  Then it was time to head back, we were shvitzing all day.It is very hot here! By 9 am we are sweating and not looking very photogenic. I am posting early pics.  We got back to our hotel just in time for a dip in the pool and full body massages by the blind.
