Entry for September 9, 2006 Oklahoma City to Taos, New Mexico

We woke up in Oklahoma city and visited the Oklahoma City Memorial which is located at the Federal Building. After that we went to breakfast at some local yokle diner. I think this state has some of the fattest people that we have ever seen. I had egg whites with cole slaw but Bryan had hash browns that smelled like bacon, so he passed on them. It was difficult to eat while looking at a room full of obese Americans. We hit the road and began driving and hmm it was time to eat again. This time we stopped in Amarillo, Texas at this famous place called the BIG TEXAN. Another place where the people and the portions were big. This place is know for their 72 oz steak. A heart attack waiting to happpen. Upon my suggestion, we shared one meal. After driving a bit more we hit the Cadillac Ranch. This is a place on the side of the road where there are a half dozen Cadillacs sticking up out of the ground. The tradition is for people to bring spray paint and crazy string and decorate these cadillacs. It was something kitschy to see. Now we were focused, full and headed to New Mexico. We arrived at the Dona Luz Inn around sunset. This place was so cozy and quaint. I especially loved all of the handpainted cabinets around the house. Dinner took us to We had some great wine at Orlando's. The food was amazing. Can you tell we like to eat. We had great wine here too!
