Snake Wine in Ho Chi Min City- August 10, 2006
photo
The view from our room is spectacular. We are on the 14th floor overlooking the Saigon River. In keeping up wth eating our way through Southeast Asia we had a tremendous breakfast. Then we headed out to see the town. We started in the backpacker zone and then went to the Ben Than market. We thought this was going to be a quick stop but we looked and photographed for a while. We bought some tea and Bryan got some more spices, he doesn't have enough and the India supply is running low. The photo that you see is some scorpian snake wine. I didn't buy any, sorry.  After the market we went to the Fine Arts Museum. The building and the art were in poor condition. The next stop was the Reunification Palace,  this place was something out of an Austin Powers movie with an Asian twist.  We walked along the streets of HCMC and photographed the people here they are more interesting than some of the tourist attractions. Our last museum of the day was the War Remnants Museum, it was very sad but the photographs and the tribute to the photographers was impressive. We spend most of our evening downloading photos onto CD's. However, we still hadn't eaten and the dinner hour was near. We went to a traditional Vietnamese BBQ where you can grill meat over charcoal at your table. Bryan was manning the beef and almost set the place on fire. When it was time for our fish, the waiter did everything for us.
