| Language Arts in the second grade includes all modes of communication. Children learn through listening, class discussions, reading and writing activities. We are using the reading series Invitations to Literacy. The series is a combination of literature and skill based activities. | Writing poetry has become a favorite second grade activity. Using their knowledge of syllables, the children create Haiku. This is a Japanese poetry form which describes something about nature in three lines. You are sure to enjoy their "cool" Winter Haiku. | ||||||||||||
