Akavi continues to survey the passengers, planning various scenarios if something goes wrong.

DM_Hallu: As the trip progresses, you find yourselves in hillier territory, with spectacular rock-cuts lining the tracks. Passengers look out at these with interest, oohing and aahing; most of them have never seen anything like it.

Ika_Yorri looks wide-eyed at the hills outside. She's seen them before, sure, but never this *fast*

DM_Hallu: (Not really. You're going through some hills with rock cuts. Kinda like the 401 outside kingston.)

DM_Hallu: All of a sudden, as you begin to round a corner, you hear a banging sound from in front of your car, in the direction of the coal scuttle. Ika_Yorri leaps to her feet.

Alexis_Hase gasps, but isn't sure what to do.

Akavi turns to face the door into the car, preparing to cast quickly if need be.

Tobias looks worried. "Er... is that supposed to happen?"

DM_Hallu: Akavi, are you readying an action, or just watching the door carefully?

Lina_Healer remains seated in the same posture of quiet readiness, but watches Ika intently and nods towards the coal scuttle.

Akavi: ((Sorry, just watching the door. Don't want to blast an engineer. XD))

Ika_Yorri draws her two wands.

Glru spins around as he's leaning on the door in question, looks through the window if there is such.

Akavi: ((Have the passengers noticed the commotion?))

DM_Hallu: The door bursts open as soon as Glru takes his weight off of it, and in hurries Jove, a look of panic on his face. He begins to say something, but notices the passengers that are watching him curiously, and bites back whatever announcement it was. "I need you all up in the engine," he stage-whispers to you.

Glru: ((knowledge steamworks: is this supposed to happen?))

Ika_Yorri rushes to follow him.

DM_Hallu: Glru, if you want to roll that you have to do so yourself - I still don't have your character sheet.

Alexis_Hase peeks out from behind the seat in front, to see if he can spot anything ((Spot if needed, 26))

Glru: ((25 (rolled a 19) ))

DM_Hallu: Jove then forces a sunny smile and looks out at the passengers. "Nothing at all is the matter. Just a technical concern. Everything is fine."

Tobias: "Should one of us stay here with the passengers?"

Akavi affects an air of calm for the benefit of the passengers ((Bluff 17)) and sweeps into the engine room.

DM_Hallu: Alexis, you can see that you've just rounded a corner and are heading into a very large rock cut, with cliffs on either side.

DM_Hallu: Glru, you can't think of anything in particular that would cause Jove to panic like this; the banging sounds appear to have simply been caused by him running towards the passenger car.

Lina_Healer: I'll stay with the passengers then.

DM_Hallu: Jove looks up, surprised, at Tobias's question. "I don't know. Does one of you want to?" You can tell he isn't a seasoned adventurer and wants to put as many decisions in the hands of the PCs as possible. "Oh, all right," he nods to Lina. "Sounds good."

Alexis_Hase looks pensive for a moment, trying to think if he could use the darkness for anything.

Glru whispers to lina "Watch lion, wery jumpy, suspiscious," then hefts his wrench and heads forward.

Alexis_Hase: ((Oh wait, it's just a rock cut, not a tunnel. Ignore that XD))

Akavi: ((Perhaps to shoot a magic missile into?))

DM_Hallu: He then hurries out towards the engine, motioning for everybody else to follow.

Alexis_Hase gets out of his seat and follows, out of sheer curiosity more than anything else.

Akavi: ((Akavi is already in the engine room))

DM_Hallu: You can see why Jove was banging around; the way past the coal scuttle looked sturdy enough when the train wasn't moving, and it's still not actually dangerous, but for a few feet between the passenger car and the engine, there's nothing between you and the rushing wind except a stylishly thin railing.

Lina_Healer radiates an almost palpable calmness throughout the passenger car.

DM_Hallu: It also conducts sound very well, hence the banging.

DM_Hallu: The passengers calm down very quickly and settle back down into their own conversations.

Glru: ((spot 26))

DM_Hallu: (Before I do anything in the engine room: Tobias, are you going or staying with Lina?)

Akavi winces at the noise, moving one hand up to cover a delicate elfin ear.

Alexis_Hase also winces at the noise, his large ears sensitive to any loud noises.

Glru: ((brief pause so I can switch PCS to the one attached to the scanner and mail my sheet to hallu))

DM_Hallu: (also, Lina, what's the Will save on that calming aura again?)

Tobias stays behind and turns to Lina. "I'll stay here with you. Just in case. I don't really know much about engines anyways."

Lina_Healer: ((DC 18))

Ika_Yorri fares better than Akavi and Alexis, her ears better trained for all manner of volumes.

DM_Hallu: Everybody except Tobias and Lina: You find yourselves with Jove and Rob in the engine room, and you immediately see what the problem is. About 1500 ahead of you (and closing fast) are two Wolfkin, standing brazenly on the tracks, with firearms pointed straight through the train's windshield.

DM_Hallu: Rob, currently at the controls, looks over at you. "A smart cat. That's just what I was saying."

Akavi purses his lips. "My spells won't be effective until we get closer. I concur."

DM_Hallu: Jove flutters with nervousness. "But we can't... we can't just drive through and hit them. We'd kill them. We can't."

Alexis_Hase stays silent, unsure if he should even be here, given he doesn't know the rest of the group.

Akavi silently shoots a withering look at Jove.

DM_Hallu: Rob blinks at the additional rabbitfolk, but says nothing.

Ika_Yorri: If they were prone, would they survive going under the train?

DM_Hallu: "I don't know!" says Jove, in a panic. "We haven't tested that!"

Tobias: ((XD))

Glru: "push throttle to top, no time to loose," Glru looks for the throttle in question "Wolves have guns. They kill all passengers. We kill first."

Ika_Yorri: Then stand in awe of the Grease spell, and wish for the best.

DM_Hallu: Jove wavers. "But how would they know to go prone?"

Glru chuckles "We will find out then."

Alexis_Hase: ((Is there room for the Wolfkin to jump out of the way?))

Ika_Yorri: �I just said, Jove. Grease spell.�

Glru: ((looking for throttle, search 15))

DM_Hallu: Ika, make an Int check.

Alexis_Hase: ((I could try conjuring a horrifying sight to make them scatter))

DM_Hallu: Glru, you can see the throttle, but Rob is already pushing it upward.

DM_Hallu: There's a little room, but it would be risky.

DM_Hallu: Ika, the Grease spell would make them fall, but it's not guaranteed to make them fall out of the way of the wheels.

Glru puts his back to Rob and holds his wrench crossways in case anyone seeks to stop him from throttling up.

Akavi sidles over to the timid illusionst. "Make your self useful and notify the woman in Huervatat garb that we've encountered something. Familiar, ventriloquism, I don't care."

Akavi: ((Tobias, are you in the front of the train or the back?))

Glru facepalms. "No, do not call dandelion eater, she will say "no, let them shoot us, squish is bad."

DM_Hallu: You're gaining on the wolves and getting closer now. They can see that you aren't slowing down. And, now that you're closer, you can see that one of them is the spying wolf from yesterday.

Tobias: ((I'm with Lina in the passenger car))

Tobias: ((XD))

Akavi: ((Ok, but where in the car?))

DM_Hallu: (At the front of the car.)

Tobias: ((near the door))

Akavi: ((Ok, that's what I thought.))

Ika_Yorri: ((I'm readying an action to cast Grease. The timing needs to be disturbingly exact to even cast on them))

Akavi looks at Glru. "I said notify. Not fetch."

DM_Hallu: The spying wolf lowers her weapon, turns, and begins to run. The other wolf makes an attempt to stop her, fails, and begins to waver herself.

DM_Hallu: (alexis, you gonna do something?)

Lina_Healer continues to sit quietly in a half-meditative state.

Alexis_Hase: ((Nah, I think I'll stand here in an indecisive panic. XD))

Tobias: ((so you're ignoring what Akavi said?))

Akavi: ((That's good. XD))

Alexis_Hase: ((The woman probably wouldn't heed my words anyway. XD))

Akavi: ((I was mostly doing that for my rp-ness. Because I'm a controlling bastard like that.))

Tobias: ((heh))

Alexis_Hase stands in an indecisive panic, glancing at Akavi, then back towards the passenger car, then back at Akavi.

Tobias: ((brb real quick))

DM_Hallu: Okay, Ika. You ready your action and, as Rob guns the train even faster, you cast Grease on the remaining wolfkin in the nick of time... just as she is turning to try to run herself. She slips, slides, and falls down to the side of the track. The train goes over her foot, but she will probably live.

Glru stands beside rob, watching the wolves, "Now would be good time to lower heads. Squish soon."

DM_Hallu: The spying wolfkin runs as fast as she can and makes it into a safe-looking crevice in the rock cut.

Akavi smiles. "Good. She's incapacitated. No need to worry about her, then."

Glru ducks down, watching for other shooters.

DM_Hallu: No one else shoots.

Ika_Yorri: "I am *amazing*, you know?"

Alexis_Hase: ((Would alexis have seen any blood? XD))

Glru: ((fear my awesome 12 spot))

Akavi smiles. "Very nice, longears."

DM_Hallu: Glru, you do not see anyone else with guns.

Tobias: ((back))

DM_Hallu: Okay, and I'm gonna switch back to the passenger car for a moment -

Alexis_Hase: ((Right, I'll go get a quick snack XD))

Glru: "we should have captured leetle bitch yesterday.�

DM_Hallu: Lina, you barely register the bump in the train's movement... but the people at the left side of the train, despite your meditative stance, suddenly begin to point and get agitated.

Tobias: ((would we have felt the train going over her foot?))

DM_Hallu: "Look!" says a halfling near the front. "Down there!"

DM_Hallu: Everybody clusters around the windows at the left of the train. The wounded wolfkin is, for a moment, plainly visible. Some of the children begin to shriek.

Lina_Healer stands to observe and gives a pointed look towards the front cabin before starting to herd people back to their seats.

Akavi: ((Akavi feels the hair on the back of his neck stand up))

Akavi: ((XD))

Alexis_Hase: ((Back ^^))

DM_Hallu: Lina, most of the people on the train allow themselves to be herded.

Glru whistles softly.

Tobias makes it to the window, and his eyes widen. "Hey!" he calls to Lina. "There's someone hurt out there!"

Glru: "this... this could be problem. do we tell passengers we squish hijackers?�

DM_Hallu: Calthea Solak, however, marches right up to you indignantly. "ExCUSE me!" she says. "I was informed that this train was a safe method of transportation! I did not pay my own hard-earned money to have my children exposed to these things! Where is your supervisor? I demand a refund!"

Lina_Healer: "And we're past now, there isn't much we can do."

Tobias pauses, then lets his shoulders slump, looking dejected. "Yeah... I guess you're right."

Lina_Healer: "Calthea, we apologize for the incident. When we said the train was safe, we meant for you. If someone attempts foolishness on the track, they take their fate into their own hands."

DM_Hallu: (Lina, okay, weird question, but: what are you wearing? are you identifiable as a Haurvatat healer?)

Lina_Healer: ((Indeed; big sigil of Haurvatat on my back))

Alexis_Hase: ((Hallu, that's not a weird question unless it's followed up by "No, I mean UNDER that."))

Glru: ((turn around, do the pro wrestler muscle pose, pointing to the emblem with your thumbs))

DM_Hallu: Calthea stares at you. "Where is your supervisor, young lady? I demand to know who has been hiring charlatans like you. If you were half the healer that sigil declares you as, you would stop this train right now and help that poor wolfkin."

Glru: (can this woman be heard from the engineroom? natural 20 on the listen)

Ika_Yorri: ((I doubt it, Glru))

DM_Hallu: (there's a lot of engine noise and wind in the way, glru. I highly doubt it...)

Lina_Healer: "In case you hadn't noticed, this train travels rather fast and we would be far past by the time it stopped. Also, I have no such authority to demand they stop the train. I will of course make appropriate arrangements at our destination. Now if you will please return to your seat...."

DM_Hallu: Calthea glares at you, but returns to her seat.

DM_Hallu: The people in the passenger car calm down after a while, and order returns, although the mood in general is a little edgier.

Lina_Healer: ((Actually, I have no idea of the stopping distance of this train, but I assume it's similar to modern trains?))

DM_Hallu: (It's more like a cowboy-era steam engine, but whatever. *is not a trainspotter, has no idea*)

DM_Hallu: Okay, and now back to the engine -

Tobias looks annoyed at Calthea's accusations, but then turns to Lina. "I'll go check what's going on up front. Just give a call or something if you need any help."

Glru: ((looks up and points "the 'meanwhile' is back.."))

Lina_Healer: "Indeed. I'd be grateful"

DM_Hallu: Jove is taking deep breaths and trying to calm down. "How are we going to explain this to the press?"

Alexis_Hase: ((In response to Akavi's "Very nice, longears")) "I... I don't understand."

Akavi: ((Outrageous Bluff checks))

Alexis_Hase: ((You said it Akavi. XD))

Ika_Yorri: "What about 'Wolves try to panic train, Rabbitfolk saves the day'?"

DM_Hallu: "That's good," says Jove. "I like the bit about rabbitfolk... wait, what did the rabbitfolk do? And, uh, why are there two of you in here?"

Akavi smiles at Jove in a maddeningly saccharine way. "I assure you, people will understand. All we did was ensure the safety of your passengers."

Alexis_Hase: ((Just realised Akavi directed the Longears comment to Ika, but I have an idea how to fix that))

Akavi: ((It could well have been a jab at you. Works either way.))

DM_Hallu: "Oh! The grease spell. Never mind. Sorry, my mind's all..."

Glru palms Ika on the shoulder "This bunny, make wolf go slip so wolf no shoot. Other wolf, she run away."

DM_Hallu: Jove buries his face in his hands. "Our inaugural voyage. The very first one. Why did it have to happen on the inaugural voyage? I'm going to lose *all* my funding."

DM_Hallu: "No you're not," says Rob, sounding irritated. "Stop whining." Akavi clasps Jove on the shoulder encouragingly.

Tobias enters the engine room at this point. "What's going on up here? I thought you had engine problems and then we passed a hurt Wolfkin near the tracks."

Akavi: "All things considered, that went rather well."

DM_Hallu: Jove waves his hands. "They were trying to... wait, what *were* they trying to do?"

Glru explains to Tobias "leetle bitch from yesterday had friend. Both had guns. Bitch... she no longer has friend.�

Akavi: ((Hallu, would it be worth it to make some sort of check to see that Jove is not under any sort of enchantment?))

Akavi: ((Because he's suffering some severe memory loss.))

DM_Hallu: (no, that's just bad roleplaying on my part.)

Alexis_Hase: ((XD))

Tobias looks horrified. "What? You KILLED someone?!"

Akavi: ((XD. Okay, then.))

Glru shrugs at Jove "They try to stop train. They do this because they wish to steal train, rob passengers, or kill passengers. train kills first."

Akavi looks sharply at Tobia. "You'll notice we DIDN'T."

Glru: "possibly most of friend is okay..."

Ika_Yorri: "We *would* have killed someone, but I saved the day."

Alexis_Hase: ((Would Alexis have witnessed the event?))

Glru murrmurrs softly "foot of wolf is not so lucky as foot of rabbits." he then giggles quietly.

Alexis_Hase: ((In particular the Wolf trying to run away before slipping.))

DM_Hallu: (Yes, Alexis was right there, he would've seen it.)

Glru: ((the one that ran away was fine, the one that didn't decide to run until after she slipped, that one went squish.))

Alexis_Hase: "I... I don't think you quite... saved the day."

Tobias starts to calm down. "Oh... alright. Well, we've got some not-so-happy passengers back there. How are we going to explain this to them?"

Akavi looked at the illusionist. "Qualify that statement."

Alexis_Hase: "The other wolf... would've been fine if the other Rabbit didn't make it slip. I saw it trying to run before slipping."

Ika_Yorri scoffs at Alexis. "Running from something this fast does little."

Alexis_Hase falls silent again.

Akavi: "We were just discussing that, Tobias. Does Lina have everything under control?"

Tobias: "Yeah... she's pretty good at keeping people calm. This one woman looked pretty upset though. She said she wants to see someone in charge."

Akavi: "Well, one of us can talk to her, if need be."

Ika_Yorri: "Are you volunteering, Akavi?"

Glru: "wolf only try to run after slipping, No?"

Akavi: "The House trains its agents for some basic public-relations works, so I could if needed."

Alexis_Hase: ((Well, it's kind of hard for someone to slip when standing still, unless they were on an incline XD they'd need to run before slipping))

Ika_Yorri looks at the people around the room.

Ika_Yorri: "Unless Jove is willing to speak with her, that would probably be for the best."

DM_Hallu: Jove raises a hand. He looks to be still in shock. "I could speak with her... but it's probably a better idea if I don't."

Ika_Yorri: ((That sounds like mundane, banal "physics" talk to me, Alexis))

Akavi looks carefully at Jove, raising an eyebrow and patting him on the back. "I'd say, Jove stays up here."

Alexis_Hase: ((XD))

Akavi: "Shall I go and try and settle her down?"

Ika_Yorri: "You'd be preferable, yes."

Tobias: ((if the surface you're standing on is greased, I imagine just shifting your weight could send you off-balance))

DM_Hallu: "That's a good idea." Jove waves vaguely. "I don't think we need you in here anymore, actually."

Glru: ((trust me, when standing on grease it is very easy to slip and fall, whether you try to move or not))

Ika_Yorri: "I mean, there's the feline anvil, the a-dore-able bunny, the... why are you even up here?"

Alexis_Hase: "I... I figured I owed you guys a favour... but I'm not sure how."

Glru: "Glru is anvil?"

Ika_Yorri: "Fair enough... But you heard the man. Back to the passenger car!"

Akavi adjusts his black courtier's outfit and runs a hand through his long hair. "Alright. Tobias, could you point her out to me?"

Alexis_Hase nods and hurries back to the passenger car, not wanting to argue too much.

Ika_Yorri: "I mean... You're good with anvil-type things, right? Machinery and whatnot? Right, Glru?"

DM_Hallu: (( *snorts* ))

Akavi: ((Hallu, I'm identifiable as Aletherian by a pendant that I'm wearing- for better or for worse.))

Glru is satisfied the crisis is averted and looks forward for more wolves.

Tobias: ((we all back in the passenger car now?))

DM_Hallu: ((Good to know.))

Glru: "Glru is good with machines, yes.

Tobias: ((or was that a future-tense question?))

Ika_Yorri returns to her enormous seat.

Glru: ((aletherian is whatnow?))

DM_Hallu: ((House Aletheia. Bunch of crazy mercenaries.))

DM_Hallu: Okay, you all go back to the passenger car. (unless someone says they're not going)

Tobias points out the woman once they're back in the car. "Her. The one sitting up straight and looking peeved."

Glru is a little bit reluctant to leave the engine... it's terribly interesting.

DM_Hallu: Calthea Solak is sitting up straight and looking peeved. Her children, despite her stated worries about them, seem happy and are talking with interest about the mutilated wolfkin.

Tobias: ((XD))

DM_Hallu: (Glru, does that mean you don't leave, or does it mean you leave slowly?)

Akavi recognizes her as Solak, and strides to her, inclining his head deferentially. "Madame Solak, you wished to speak with me?"

Glru: (slowly if watched, but will stay behind if not encouraged to return)

DM_Hallu: (I think eventually Rob would start making snarky comments, does that count as being "encouraged to return"?)

DM_Hallu: Calthea Solak looks at you suspiciously. "Are you the supervisor here?"

Alexis_Hase: ((XD "If you love the engine so much you should marry it. WELL I WON'T LET YOU!"))

Akavi: "I'm the spokesperson for security on this voyage."

DM_Hallu: "Oh. Well, what do you have to say for yourself?"

Glru: ((will depart if he feels unwelcomed and return to the passenger car, taking up his post with his back against the door))

Glru tries not to giggle, but it's an effort.

Ika_Yorri: ((Akavi narrows his eyes. "The wolf should've paid the fare..." :D))

Alexis_Hase: ((It almost cost her an arm and a leg, but instead cost her just a foot. XD))

Akavi: ((If there's a seat available across from her, I take it and look honest. XD)) "What happened was regrettable, Madame. But for the safety of yourself and your children, we felt it necessary not to stop for... well... armed terrorists."

DM_Hallu: Calthea Solak's eyes widen. "Armed terrorists? What kind of a train ride is this?"

Tobias takes a seat next to Lina. "Everything going alright back here?"

Lina_Healer: ((Akavi - ....is "armed terrorists" supposed to calm her down?!?)

DM_Hallu: (heeee.)

Ika_Yorri: ((An exciting one!?))

Alexis_Hase: ((me watches as Akavi digs himself a deeper and deeper hole.))

Akavi: "An inagural one, ma'am. Rest assured, all the security team is extensively trained, and the threat is no longer a present one."

Lina_Healer: "The company does not assume liability for someone who wants to stare town several tones of high speed metal. Even a horse and carriage can be dangerous if one does not move out of the way."

Tobias: ((technically Tobias failed out of mercenary school, but he has a big sword and is really strong XD))

DM_Hallu: Calthea nods dismissively to Akavi.

Akavi: ((I realized the irony as I said "extensively trained", but decided to roll with it.))

Akavi returns to the front of the train and grimaces. "Well, that... went."

Lina_Healer returns to her seat.

Alexis_Hase tries to remain detached while observing the situation.

Lina_Healer: *quietly* "Would one of you be so kind as to let me know what the hell happened up there?"

DM_Hallu: The train speeds on, without apparent incident. Many of the children are talking animatedly amongst themselves. "Didja SEE the blood?" etc.

Alexis_Hase: ((XD Trying to think how I could put my illusion to use.))

Ika_Yorri whispers back to Lina, "Two wolves tried to hold up the train, but we weren't going to stop. That one was lucky I know the magic I know..."

Ika_Yorri: "It wasn't pretty, but she should be alive."

DM_Hallu: The train continues moving. You pass the rock cuts and go into gentle farmland.

DM_Hallu: All of a sudden, apparently in the middle of nowhere, the train grinds slowly to a halt.

DM_Hallu: Passengers look around confused. There are a few inevitable "Are we there yet?"s.

Akavi: ((This is a good sign.))

Alexis_Hase starts to worry.

Ika_Yorri: "Why have the rolling plains ceased rolling?"

Tobias: "I don't think this is the end of the trip..."

Lina_Healer: "Glru, Akavi, care to take the honours?"

Glru returns immediately to the engine.

Akavi: "Fine. Yell if anything happens back here."

DM_Hallu: (Glru, by "immediately" do you mean right when the train stops, or right when Lina asks you to go check it out?)

Akavi follows Glru cautiously.

Ika_Yorri: ((Life's too short to stop for stopping!))

Akavi: "Glru, try and stay behind me at first- if I can get a spell off I don't want to hit you," Akavi whispers.

Glru: ( as soon as the train starts to slow down)

Akavi: ((Ok then, ignore that comment))

Ika_Yorri readies her wands again.

DM_Hallu: Glru, you get to the engine just as the train makes its final halt. As you open the door, you greatly startle a certain wolfkin, who takes a moment to recognize because she is covered in coal. She appears to have boarded the train by leaping into the coal scuttle.

Glru pins said wolf to the wall by the throat with his wrench.

DM_Hallu: Roll for Initiative first, please.

DM_Hallu: You're both equally surprised, so you both have to roll.

Akavi: ((Shall I as well?))

DM_Hallu: (You'll get there next round.)

Glru: ((even expecting trouble?))

Glru: ((pheh, 8.))

DM_Hallu: (Feel free to roll in the meantime though.)

Akavi: ((Ok, 14.))

Ika_Yorri: ((this wolfkin is following the age-old rule, "When in doubt, blow it out!"))

Glru: i shouldn't have taken decreased initiative as a flaw.

DM_Hallu: The wolfkin takes a step back and fires her weapon at you. (What is your AC currently?)

Akavi: ((Ika took "pathological rhyming" as a flaw, it seems. :)))

Ika_Yorri: ((pathological rhyming suits my impeccable timing!))

Glru: ((17 if I don't get to declare my dodge on her, 18 if I can. actually, as she is retreating, don't I get attack of opportunity?))

Akavi: ((I hate you.))

DM_Hallu: (No, she wasn't immediately in your threatened space.)

Glru: ((i will hug the bunny later :) ))

DM_Hallu: You feel the impact of a bullet hitting you at close range... it doesn't hurt as much as you were picturing.

Tobias: ((will we be able to hear the gunshot from the passenger car?))

DM_Hallu: That'll be 2 points of nonlethal damage, and it's your turn.

Glru: ((so base AC is 17, or 18 if I can declare dodge)

DM_Hallu: (and yes, you can hear the gunshot.)

DM_Hallu: (nonlethal bullets don't do piercing damage. nice try.)

Alexis_Hase: ((Would we be able to take any action during this time?))

DM_Hallu: (You can choose whether or not to rush out to the engine. If you do, you arrive with Akavi next round. If you don't, you can do whatever you feel like in the passenger car.)

DM_Hallu: That'd be a Grapple check, Glru. You don't have Improved Grapple, do you?

Alexis_Hase: ((Alright, I cast invisibility on myself and go to the engine room. That'll last 3 minutes))

Tobias stands up at the gunshot and starts toward the engine room.

Tobias: ((Int 11))

DM_Hallu: The wolfkin shoots at you again as you advance. (wooo, attack of opportunity, that's 6 points nonlethal this time.)

Alexis_Hase: ((Or 30 rounds, to be precise XD))

DM_Hallu: (Int 11 for what?)

Glru: ((nope, feats are Combat reflexes, dodge and diligent))

Tobias: ((for when I get there?))

DM_Hallu: Make a melee touch attack, then.

Glru: ((excuse me, she has a revolver?))

Ika_Yorri stands on her seat, hiding the readied wands from the general public. "Lina, help them up front. I'll keep an eye on things here."

DM_Hallu: (yes, she has a gnomish revolver.)

Tobias: ((*initiative))

Glru: ((reload is full round action and provides attack of opportunity))

DM_Hallu: (Oh, you mean Initiative! I was thinking Intelligence.)

Glru: ((bugger))

DM_Hallu: (yes I know. she has a revolver. shush.)

Alexis_Hase: ((My init roll was 22 total if nat 20's don't count. XD))

Glru: ((grapple and meele are both 4, +1 for the MW wrench, plus I rolled a 16))

DM_Hallu: (agh rules rules rules all over the place!)

Akavi: ((AoO is PURE EVIL!))

DM_Hallu: Glru, the nonlethal bullet has kept you back for now, but those are good rolls so I'll let you use them again next time you make a grapple attempt.

Glru: ((especially with my reflexes. I get 6 attacked every time I get an AoO))

DM_Hallu: Alexis, your turn!

Alexis_Hase: ((Alright, I cast a Silent Image of a ghostly human, followed by a Ghost Sound appearing to come from the image, in an attempt to scare the wolfkin into submitting, before Glru kills her or something. XD))

DM_Hallu: Fair enough. Describe the Ghost Sound please?

Ika_Yorri: ((Combat Reflexes: For every time a crowd is running by you, and you absolutely NEED to kill [(Dex - 8)/2] of them...))

Alexis_Hase: ((The ghost sound is that of a single humanoid muttering something in Infernal))

Akavi: ((What, specifically? I'm going to be charging in shortly.))

DM_Hallu: The wolfkin shrieks, twists around, and tries to shoot the ghost sound. Her revolver makes a disappointing click; she's out of bullets.

Alexis_Hase: ((Akavi, the Ghost would be muttering "Leave this place... surrender now..." over and over XD))

Akavi: ((Ok.))

DM_Hallu: Akavi's turn. (Lina, are you in the engine or the passenger car?)

Ika_Yorri stands on her seat, hiding the readied wands from the general public. "Lina, help them up front. I'll keep an eye on things here."

Lina_Healer: ((Glrue - it REALLY doesn't work that way))

Lina_Healer: ((I'm in the passenger car, by the door forward in case something happens))

Alexis_Hase: ((XD I'm going to be invisible for a good while by round standards.))

Akavi moves through the door, and, surveying the situation, mutters an incantation and causes a cone of blinding color to spring from his palm, moving as necessary to catch both the wolf and the image. ((Color Spray, DC 14))

Akavi: ((If Alexis is caught in the cone, my bad.))

Alexis_Hase: ((No worries. XD))

Lina_Healer goes forward.

Glru: ((lina perhaps it is only on the first AoO each round, I'll have to doublecheck))

DM_Hallu: The wolfkin slumps to the ground, unconscious.

Akavi: ((W00t))

DM_Hallu: Now that the smoke has cleared, you can see that Jove and Rob are also unconscious.

Alexis_Hase: ((Ahh, the beauty of illusion spells))

Glru appropriates the pistol, makes it safe, tucks it into his belt.

Alexis_Hase: ((I'll leave you to explain that one Akavi. I'm still invisible))

Akavi: ((OK.))

Ika_Yorri: ((If it's Combat Reflexes, you get 6 separate AoOs each round, but they must be triggered by 6 different events))

Glru also moves to the controls, looking at the track "See to enginier, please."

Akavi clasps his hands. "Simple color spray. She'll be unconscious for a while, then merely incapacitated."

Alexis_Hase hides in a corner, pleased at his work, waiting for his invisibility to wear off.

DM_Hallu: Glru, you can reach the controls, but you're not sure exactly what any of them are for... you've never exactly piloted a train.

Ika_Yorri: ((Normally, people only get 1 AoO each round, no matter what happens around them))

Tobias: ((have I arrived yet? ^^; ))

DM_Hallu: ((Yes, Tobias and Lina arrive about now.))

Lina_Healer: ((Hallu - would a Lesser Restore undo the Colour Spray?))

DM_Hallu: ((Yes it would.))

Tobias looks around the engine room. "Why do I feel like I keep missing the important stuff?"

Akavi: ((XD))

Lina_Healer casts Lesser Restor on Jove, then another on Rob.

Tobias: "Everyone alright?"

Glru: ((knowledge steam engine 24))

Alexis_Hase, still invisible, says "I'm glad I could be of assistance to your endeavors, sirs."

Lina_Healer: ((Can we /please/ diminish the number of OOC comments?))

Akavi: ((Poor choice, Alexis.))

Alexis_Hase: ((Roleplay before Rollplay. :D)) Akavi whirls around, looking in concern for the source of the voice.

Glru: ((also assuming I noted which one is the throttle earlier at least))

Tobias looks surprised. "Woah. Where did that come from?"

Akavi: (( :) ))

DM_Hallu: Okay. Glru, you can more or less figure it out.

Alexis_Hase: "Oh! I... I'm terribly sorry... I'm still invisible, aren't I?"

DM_Hallu: Lina, your spell doesn't do much... Jove and Rob are not magically unconscious. They appear to have been shot with nonlethal bullets. Akavi grinds his teeth. "Show yourself."

Alexis_Hase: ((Any way for me to dismiss invisibility, or do I need to wait for it to run its course?))

DM_Hallu: (Sure, you can dismiss it if you feel like.)

Glru: ((if cast on yourself you can just end the spell))

Alexis_Hase ends the spell, and becomes visible again. "Please... I was trying my best to help. I still owed you lot one after all."

Lina_Healer hits both Jove and Rob with a Cure Light for.... wow, max on each, so 16.

DM_Hallu: Both of them twitch violently and snap back into consciousness. "Look out," Jove shouts, "there's another wolf!"

Akavi relaxes somewhat, and smiles. "And you almost got yourself a spell in the face as thanks. My apologies for my- jumpiness."

DM_Hallu: He then looks around himself, sees the unconscious wolfgirl, and says "Oh... I guess you figured that out."

Akavi looks up. "Ah. On that note, we ought to secure our prisoner."

Alexis_Hase jumps at Jove's comment.

Alexis_Hase: "P-please. Be calm... we're all a little jumpy. Especially some of the weaker ones here."

Glru: "Rob, you are well, or shall Glru continue to run the train?" by his inflection he rather hopes it's the latter.

DM_Hallu: "I'm fine," says Rob. "What's going on?"

DM_Hallu: Glru, you're not actually running the train yet - you're busy starting the engine back up and revving things into place.

Alexis_Hase: ((Aw hell, is the ghostly sound and silent image still up? XD))

DM_Hallu: (Why yes, it would be.)

Tobias: ((XD))

Alexis_Hase: ((What a wakeup call for Jove and Rob.))

Lina_Healer sees that the situation is in good hands and heads back to the passengers.

DM_Hallu: Rob looks up at the imaginary person talking in Infernal. "Who the hell is that?"

Alexis_Hase: "Terribly sorry if I startled anyone with that."

Alexis_Hase dismisses the illusions.

DM_Hallu: Rob blinks, then looks back at Glru. "Hey, get your paws off my train! Those are 50-million-gold-piece controls!"

Akavi: "Oh good, we're all better."

Alexis_Hase: "I used some illusions to frighten and distract the wolfkin while the Sorceror here knocked her out."

DM_Hallu: "It's not the controls that are 50 million," says Jove tiredly, "it's the whole train."

Glru tries hard to be dignified and not say "chuggachugga", his ears droop visibly with disappointment as he is ordered away from the controls "Have begun starting. You finish. We should be moving again, yes?"

Akavi extends a hand to motion Alexis out of the corner.

DM_Hallu: "I think so..." says Rob, looking down at the unconscious wolfkin. "What are we gonna do with /that/?"

Alexis_Hase nods, and comes out from the corner.

Akavi: "We ought to interrogate her."

Tobias: "We should probably tie her up or something before she wakes up..."

Akavi: "First, though, do you have a way to restrain her?"

DM_Hallu: As if on cue, the girl begins to stir. She still apparently can't see or think much, though.

Glru: "Glru has rope."

Akavi: "Use it, please."

Lina_Healer: ((Hallu - would I have noticed Glru's nonlethal damage?))

DM_Hallu: (Probably not, unless you were looking for it.)

Glru rolls the little bitch onto her belly and tied her wrists together, another loop goes up around her throat and pulls her arms up a bit. he then pats her down for other weapons.

Glru: ((use rope 25. damn this little d20 loves me today))

Alexis_Hase: ((Think I might have an idea how to get her to talk if she's not cooperative. XD))

DM_Hallu: The wolfkin moves a bit as you search her, but is not yet coherent enough to actually struggle, protest, or defend herself. She is in possession of a small dagger and a set of theives' tools.

Akavi: ((We'll see. I speak canid and have a few intimidating trick up my sleeve, too. Perhaps we could work together?))

Lina_Healer is now in the back with the passengers, calming them down as best she can ((new DC 18 save on Calm; 19 Diplomacy))

Ika_Yorri looks to Lina as she enters the passenger car. "All's well, then?"

Glru appropriates these as well.

DM_Hallu: (Lina, can you wait a bit? There's something that should be happening meanwhile to the passengers that I haven't gotten to yet.)

Lina_Healer: ((Ah, carry on then.))

Ika_Yorri: ((erk))

Alexis_Hase: ((Sure thing. I was going to draw on previous frightening experiences to startle her, maybe that wouldn't require as high an intimidation check XD))

DM_Hallu: In fact, let's switch the scene right now before the interrogation -

DM_Hallu: Okay, it's in the passenger car about a minute ago when everybody except Ika had left.

Ika_Yorri: ((TO ME! YAY!))

Glru has a slightly better intimidation check in mind (and he has a serious pintball welt that he's a little bitter about.)

Ika_Yorri tries to keep as much of the room under her watchful eyes as possible, still clutching her wands.

DM_Hallu: Ika, what's your AC?

Ika_Yorri: ((15 if flatfooted, 16 otherwise))

DM_Hallu: While your back is turned, a ratfolk leaps out at you and misses embarrassingly.

DM_Hallu: (Initiative, please.)

Ika_Yorri: ((Init: 13))

DM_Hallu: The rat tries again and misses again. Clearly he is not doing so well. Your turn.

Lina_Healer: ((How long until I arrive?))

Ika_Yorri: ((Is he just clawing at me?))

DM_Hallu: (A couple rounds.)

DM_Hallu: He seems to be trying to start a grapple.

Glru: (this is where you scream for help)

Ika_Yorri: ((Ah. Touch AC is 12, then))

DM_Hallu: (...okay, on account of me being phenomenally stupid enough to have forgotten about touch AC, I'm gonna say you got away anyway.)

DM_Hallu: Your turn.

Ika_Yorri: "We got trouble back here!" And let loose a Magic Missile from one wand.

Tobias: ((do we automatically hear her, or have to do a Listen check?))

DM_Hallu: The wand fries the rat's fur, but he's still standing.

DM_Hallu: The rat sizzles again, but not as much.

DM_Hallu: You hear the passengers around you shrieking and carrying on, but you're not sure if it's from you wrestling the rat or something different.

DM_Hallu: Another Grapple check, please?

Ika_Yorri: ((Grapple: 16!))

DM_Hallu: The rat has you pinned.

DM_Hallu: Now, Lina, this is where you come in...

Ika_Yorri: ((That was a natural 20, by the way... I'm certainly no wrestler...))

DM_Hallu: You open the door to the passenger compartment and see several things at once. First of all, Ika has been pinned by a ratfolk. Second of all, the passenger compartment is in complete disarray, with everybody running around and shrieking and out of their seats.

Lina_Healer: Do I see any aggressors among the passengers?

DM_Hallu: There seems to be extra movement near the back, but you don't see anyone hitting each other or anything. You can't really see all the way to the back with all the disarray.

Tobias: ((I've got to go. See you all next Friday!))

DM_Hallu: Okay, and that is where we end the session. :D
