Prologue : Departure
San Francisco Airport...
'Are you sure you won't stay longer pal?' Ken asked his best friend.
'Sorry, No. I must take my leave. I wish to thank you again for allowing me to stay with you and your family while I recuperated from my last fight.' Ryu replied, bowing.
'Hey! What are friends for? I just wish you would stop by more often. It was nice having you around, besides Mel will miss his "Uncle Ryu". Ken smiled.
A speaker announced the departing flights. Ryu hefted his duffel bag over his shoulder and turned to Ken.
'That is my flight boarding, I must go now. Give my regards to Eliza and Mel for me.' Ryu said as he shook Ken's hand.
'Will do my friend, take care of yourself, and don't stay away to long this time!' Ken hollered at to his friend from the departure gate.
*Good-bye my friend* Ken thought to himself as he watched Ryu board the plane.
Ken walked outside to his car and made his way back home. Once he was inside, his wife greeted him.
'Did you see Ryu off okay?' Eliza asked.
'Yeah.' Ken replied solemnly.
'What's wrong? Do you miss traveling with him?' She asked.
'Kinda, but I am just concerned. Ryu has been at this non-stop since we left Master Gouken's dojo 16 years ago. As his skill grows, so does the chance that the next fight might be his last. He has never been beaten, but to find out his true potential, he seeks opponents that are far more deadlier than the last ones.'
'Ken, he chose his path in life? As you have chosen yours.' Eliza said hugging him. 'Did you tell him your concerns?'
'Somewhat, but he still feels he does not know the true meaning of the fight. I just wish that there were some way I could look out for him like he always did for me.'
'I know.' replied Eliza.
