Chapter 01: Party!!
"Why do I have to go down there? Why can't we just have a nice quiet dinner together?" Ken complained while adjusting his tux in the mirror.
"Because your parents went to all this trouble to throw you a surprise birthday party dear." Eliza replied from the bathroom.
"Surprise?! You call this a surprise? The media has been advertising my "Surprise Birthday Party" for the last week!"
"Boy, you sure are a grouch today!" Eliza smiled waking out of the bathroom adjusting her diamond earrings.
"You're not the one who just turned 34!" Ken exclaimed.
"Oh stop that!" she chided. You're still immature for your age. She smiled hugging him.
"Thanks." He laughed. "That makes me feel oh so much better."
"Come on Dear, they are waiting on the birthday boy." She said as she guided him to the door. Ken whinced at that comment.
The surprise birthday party was not small by any means. Hundreds of people from all professions were there. Movie stars, politicians, and many foreign dignitaries. Ken did not even know a third of the people who wished him a happy birthday.
Most who had came sought out Ken's Father to discuss business and other proposals.
After a few hours of light conversation with people, Ken made his way to the punch bowl. He was trying to think of a good excuse so that he could leave the party, when he spotted a rather striking young lady standing by the table.
"Nice party. She said handing him a glass of champange. She had a british accent that reminded him of Cammy.
"Yeah." He replied. "But I am not too much into birthday parties."
"Me either, though today is my birthday as well."
"Really? Well I guess I should wish you a happy birthday then."
"May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" He asked, still quite captivated with the beautiful young lady.
She held out her hand to shake his. "Croft... Lara Croft."
