Chapter 25: Unanswered Questions

"Let me get this straight. This Gouki character shows up here and leaves a note for your friend that makes him run out and leave you?"

"When you put it that way, NO!" Chun li answered furiously. "Ryu had to leave because he felt we would be in danger if he stayed."

"And that is what you read from this note?" The detective asked waving the note in front of her. "You look to be of Chinese decent Inspector, can YOU read Japanese?"

Chun li's mouth pursed as if she was ready to blow up. Ken took the initiative and spoke.

"I read the note, I have studied in Japan a little over a decade. Look, all we wanted was a little help from the police in trying to track down our friend."

The detective regarded Chun li rather coldly for a second before looking down at her pager.

"I'm going to step outside and take this important call. I'll be back in a few minutes. She said rising out of her chair and walking to the door. When she left the room, Eliza and Ken both looked at Chun li with puzzled looks.

"What is up with that woman and you?" Eliza asked. "Have you had dealings with her in the past before?"

"I can't remember the name, but she does look familiar. She try to turn everything I say into something else." Chun li answered exasperated.

Chun li rose up from the sofa and opened her cell phone. "I am going to have a background check done on this woman before she asks anymore silly questions."

Outside of the hotel, a cab pulled up letting out a man in a rather expensive white suite. He tipped the cab driver and waved over a bellboy to take his bags.

A rather large shadow cast down on him from above made him look up. A jet-black helicopter flew over head and landed on the roof above.

Dan thought to himself as he walked into the lobby. 'Man, I just got here, Ken better not be thinking of leaving right now without giving me a chance to see Paris.

Chun li walked out of the kitchen area closing closing the lid of her cell phone. "Just as I thought. Paris has no record of any Detectives under the name of Juli."

"Could she be working for Gouki?" Eliza asked.

"I doubt it. Gouki is a warrior; He would not rely on anyone else but himself. Someone else seems to be interested in what's going on." Ken answered.

"Ken?" Chun li asked looking out the window. "Did you happen to request a chopper?"

"No, It was not me. I am starting to get a bad feeling about this." Ken answered rising to his feet.

"Our Detective friend has been gone for awhile now, do you think this is her doing?" Ken asked.

"I don't know, but I am going to find out right now." Chun li replied heading for the door.

"Is it just me, or is it getting harder to breathe in here?" Eliza said slumping into the couch.

Ken took a step forward towards Eliza but came crashing down to the floor. Chun li soon following suit.

Dan hummed to elevator music as he rode it to the top floor. When the doors opened up, he walked down the hallway still carrying the tune. In front of the door to the penthouse was a rather attractive woman in a business outfit talking into a cell phone.

As he approached the door he was stopped. "You can not go in there. This suite is off limits to the public." She said to him switching off her phone.

"That's okay baby, I live here." He replied trying to step forward.

"Not anymore you do not. I suggest that you leave immediately."

"Look, do you know who Ken Masters is? This is his place." Dan said pulling out a key. " The guy at the front desk gave me this key to get in. Now out of my way honey, I've got a serious case of jet lag."

The woman shrugged her shoulders and moved aside for Dan to open the door. As Dan was putting the key into the lock, he felt a sharp pain shoot up his back.

"Cannon-Spike!" echoed down the hallway as Juli performed the rising kick into the small of his back. Dan's skull made an impression into the metal door.

Juli stood there in a defensive stance as Dan slowly turned around and raised his right index finger. He looked like he was about to say something before his eyes crossed, and he fell forward onto the plush carpet.

"Don't call me Honey." She replied kicking him in the side.
