Chapter 1: Calm Before the Storm

Ken Masters paced around his living room of his newly acquired condo. From the look on his handsome face, one could tell that he was extremely bored. His long-time girlfriend had left for a year to go with her family on a tour of Europe. He could have gone with her, but he thought it was best to let her be with her family. This way he could be sure that she was the one he wanted to marry.

"Besides, I can always hop on one of Dad's jets and go see her anytime I want."

But that still left him nothing to do to occupy his time when she was away. He had planned to enter a few more fighting tournaments and maybe go visit a few friends.

Making his way to through the hallway to the kitchen, he paused at his trophy cabinet and looked at all the various prizes he had won throughout his years entering martial arts tournaments. A smile crept up to his face as he reflected on the times that he was not so "tied-down". Remembering back to his training with Master Gouken and his long-time friend Ryu.

"That was the best time in my life..." He thought to himself.

"And after we completed our training with Sensei, we were Kings of the Road. Going anywhere that caught

Our fancy. Competing in underground tournaments.... NOT like the ones I got THESE prizes from. What

Was it that Ryu always said? Ahh yes.... Awards mean nothing to me.... The fight is all."

Suddenly it hit him! He knew what he was going to do now. He ran to his huge bedroom, the size of a family room, and started tearing through the closet looking for his old gym bag. He opened the bag and took out his old address book. 'Plopping' down on his waterbed, he started to flip through the notes he found there.

"That's what I'll do" He said to himself, "I'll call up a few of my old buddies from some of

The past tournaments and maybe we can all get together and hang around."

;An hour later after making numerous calls, he had managed to find everyone he was looking for and most had agreed to come to San Francisco and crash at his place. A few had to be persuaded.... Like Dan.

"Too busy to come hang around me? Starting your own Dojo?" He had to really surpress a laugh at that comment.

"Well, okay Dan, I guess you won't get to see any of these pretty girls out here who

Just LOVE to see a MAN in a gI."

That's all it took, Dan was booking himself on the next flight. Now, the only problem was to find Ryu. "God only knows where he is at now." he thought to himself.

Picking up the phone book, he found the number he was looking for and dialed it up.

"Hi, do you have offices worldwide? Great I have a job for your company. I need to find

An old buddy of mine, but I have no idea where he might be. Yes I understand that's gonna

Be tough. He is usually in Japan, but is know to travel...Uh huh...Yeah, His description?

We'll he is around 5'9", well muscled, and always wearing a white sleeveless gi with a red headband...yeah?.... Uh huh...." Ken continued to give a more precise description of Ryu to the man on the phone.

"It's gonna cost me how much? .... Okay. .... And usually how long does it take for you to

usually find someone? .... I know it's not a lot to go on... yeah, i understand that. When

can you start? Well, you make a list of all your expenses, and turn it into the Master's

Foundation.... YES I said the Master's Foundation. If you make this your top priority,

You'll find a sizeable bonus for you. Let me know what you find, okay.... Good-bye"

As Ken hung up the phone, he sat back on the bed and gave a *sigh*.

"Well, this should make for an interesting reunion of sorts." he thought to himself.
