All I want for Christmas is... Part 2
Ken returned to the table with a tray full of food and drinks. He sat down softly and handed Ryu a drink. Ken watched as Ryu stirred his rice around, not really eating any.
"What's wrong old friend? When you do not clobber food that is in front of you, something is really bothering you." Ken said setting aside his plate.
"I see the joy and happiness that all these people share with one another and know that I will never experience that kind of love." Ryu replied looking over at a fountain.
"What are you talking about? Ryu, it is never to late to experience love. Why would you feel that way?"
"All I have ever known in my life has been the fight. There was never anytime for anything else. It was a distraction from the fight. I have been searching for the meaning of the fight for almost two decades now, and I feel as if I am no closer to it than when I started."
"All those years I was in search of it, and I have nothing to show for it. You however have a wife and son now and have much happiness."
"You know what, Ryu? This sounds hauntingly familiar. About a month or so ago I was on a business trip for dad. I decided to look up an old friend and have lunch with them. What you just told me was almost the same story of not being able to find 'happiness'. YOUR name came up in that conversation several times."
"Who was that?" Ryu asked puzzled.
Ken took a drink from his cup and replied.
"Chun li."
"I think it is about high time that the two of you get together. I am not the only one who thinks that either." Ken said.
"What would she see in me? I have nothing to give her to make her happy." Ryu replied shaking his head.
Ken nearly choked on his drink after hearing that comment.
*ack!* *cough!* "What does she see in you??!! For pete's sake Ryu, open your eyes! That girl has held a torch for you all these years! Open your eyes my friend. You two were meant for each other. "You're just a little slow figuring out these things."
"All she talked about was 'how is Ryu? What is Ryu doing now? And so on and so forth. I saw the same look in her eyes that I saw in yours while I was standing in line.
"Ryu, it's not about what you can give her. All she wants is your heart. She has been trying to give you hers all this time. You just never noticed."
