Our Brazilian Vacation

   Our visit to see the large statue of Christ, that over looks Rio, occurred on a very cold and windy day.  We had planned our trip to Brazil during our summer vacation.  However, since Brazil is in the Southern hemisphere it is winter there in July.  Normally their winters are not very cold.  But we unfortunately arrived during an unusually cold period.

    We were taken near the top of the hill in a small van and then we walked up the stairs to the top.  The statue was huge.  However, the view of Rio was just as wonderful. 

   The overview of Rio was no less shocking than our first day in Sao Paulo.  As we looked down the hill we saw homes that looked like shacks.  However, on top of many of these homes they had satellite dishes.   I guess so that they can watch TV and forget about their life.
