Size: Body is 20-30 centimeters, with a tail of an additional 20-30 centimeters, and weighs about 1.3-1.8 pounds.
Habitat: The Golden Lion Tamarin are small monkeys that belong to the Marmoset family. They are native to the rain forests of Brazil, near Rio de Janeiro. Their name comes from their golden, lion-like fur. They are considered a symbol of rain forest conservation. There are currently about 400 left in the wild. Conservation efforts for this species include reforestation efforts, habitat preservation, and rescue of orphaned babies.
