Blade II
Blade II

The original Blade was an incredibly deep film filled with lore about the vampire world that made it true to form, yet had enough variation upon the hardcore White Wolf lore that made it stand on its own. Wesley Snipes, played Blade, The Day Walker who hunted the vampires that forced him to be what he is. It had a lot of flair in the action sequences but again, had such an amazing story to back it up.

This time around, Blade is still a bad-ass. The movie begins with him searching for Whistler, who we thought died in Blade. Upon rescuing his longtime friend, Blade is approached by the Vampires to help them in destroying a new race of undead, the Reapers. Only the Reapers devoured other Vampires and changed them into Reapers. Assisted by the Vampire group of elite warriors, the Bloodpack, Blade goes hunting for answers to this mysterious new race.

So yeah, the story is fairly simple and mundane. A typical action flick story, hero is called upon his enemies to defeat a greater foe. This is all fun and good, but what makes Blade II so enjoyable? Probably because each action sequence is too cool to miss. And there's a good number of action sequences with good use of computer generated effects combined with Snipes trait for intense action.

So that's why you really want to go see this movie. To see Wesley Snipes kick some Vampire ass. The plot does have its twists, and does keep the interest of the audience fairly well. However, it's not the rich story that it was in Blade. But an action gem nonetheless.
