Geese aren't good at remembering spells. Fortunately, a good magic user always writes things down.
The odd man changes back to human form under the amused eye of Colwyn.
"I am Ergo the Magnificent!" the odd man introduces himself. "Short in stature, tall in power, narrow of purpose and wide of vision...and I do not travel with peasants and beggars, goodbye!" And with that he leaves into the forest.
A Cyclops watches from the forest. Just the sight of the one-eyed giant is enough to change Ergo's mind about joining with Colwyn and Ynyr.
"You're no great chooser of roads, old man," complains Ergo as he rubs his sore feet. The path will save them a half day's journey however.
Two bandits throw the axes at Ergo. Luckily, another backfired spell turns our friend into a piglet, saving his life.
Torquil is the leader of the band of escaped convicts that attacked Colwyn's party as they made their way through the canyon.
These are just the kind of men Colwyn needs. Hardened and desperate. He makes a passionate discourse to try to convince them to join him.
"Noble sentiments, but we fight for profit...know what I mean?" Kegan, Torquil's second in command, tells Colwyn. "
Menno agrees to follow Colwyn and as a show of faith, the prince unlocks his manacles. "Only the king and the lord marshall carry that key..." murmurs Torquil.
