Scandium is a half-sister to Amberle and is a very elegant black with brindle trim on the legs and face. On the lure coursing field and in LGRA and NOTRA she is very competitive. In February 2003 Scandium completed the requirements for her LCX title, becoming the second LCX borzoi (a few days later we found out that another borzoi that she had been running against had also completed her LCX on the same day).

The beginning of January 2004 I took Scandium to California to run in NOFCA (open field). Even though she did not place either day, she, like Amberle, knew instinctively how to run a jack rabbit and received many complements from the owners of the other borzoi.  I was very pleased with her performance in the open field, considering that on September 12, 2003 she was bitten by a poisonous snake (Copperhead)  and came close to loosing her right rear leg.  All layers of tissue died from her knee to her hock, leaving only raw, inflamed tendons. Scandium was crated for over two months and allowed absolutely NO exercise during this long healing time. Fortunately she never stopped using her right rear leg. In December 2003 she returned to lure coursing and racing.

Scandium returned to California in January 2005 to again run in the open field. This time she earned her first points (10) against very tough competition. Though she will never earn her open field titles I am very pleased with her performance and her natural instinct. She has always been a tough competitor in any performance event she has competed in.

NEWS FLASH:
Scandium finishes her SORC title on September 4, 2005. She is the first borzoi since 1998 to earn this title and only the seventh borzoi overall.  She now becomes the first borzoi to have earned all these performance titles.

Scandium has been bred to the multi-talented Monti [FC Aragorn's Barron GL Fremont FCh, SORC, SC] As far as I know this is the first time both parents have earned their SORC race titles. These puppies should excel in performance events and also do well in the conformation ring. Potential colors should be reds, brindles, and maybe tris.

Check back for updates on this potential litter. Reservations highly recommended.
