Pyrrolidine's only litter was 3 male puppies all born dead. Sadly she will never have any puppies as she was diagnosed in March 2007 with a very rare form of liver cancer [cholangiocarcinoma] and had to be spayed and have about 1/3 of her liver removed. At this time she is doing well and made her first outing since the surgery at the BCOA National in Rhode Island the week of April 23-28, 2007. There is NO treatment for this cancer as little is known about it. All I can do is wait and see and pray that the vet got all of it and that it had not spread beyond the liver.
UPDATE: 5 months after her surgery, Pyrrolidine passed the physical exam for her liver. She continues to enjoy her life as a pampered house dog.
At 1 year post-surgery Py continues to do well. At 15 months post-surgery I had several small tumors removed (2 were benign but unfortunately the third one turned out to be another rare cancer). After several weeks of seaching Py was started on an experimental cancer drug. Unfortunately after only two weeks of treatment the decision was made to put her down as the cancer had spread to her lungs and she was starting to have trouble breathing. Py left this world being held in my arms and passed over the RAINBOW BRIDGE on May 1, 2008.
