The above photo of Luminol was taken in January 2004. She is 11 yrs 2 months old. Luminol won BOB borzoi at the first two AKC Nationals against very tough competition. Besides earning both her LCM and Canadian FChX title, she is also pointed in both LGRA and NOTRA. Straight racing was all right with her, but NOTRA was just not for her, as the "call" of the infield was always too much for her to resist. In 2002 Luminol returned to NOTRA racing when she finally decided to stay on the racing track. Even though she only runs a couple meets a year, she will be back out running NOTRA during 2004. She competed at several race meets before suddenly dieing in August 2004 of kidney failure.
Luminol never had a litter for us even though she was bred several times. Motherhood was just not for her. Her dam is the famous "Chromium" and her most famous littermate is her self gray & cream brindle brother "Charlie" [FC Chromium's Lead of Ryhka CD, LCM 9, ORC, MC]. Charlie died tragically in December 2002 of hemorrhagic enteritis. He was a few points from his LCM 10 title. No other male borzoi is even close to this record. Charlie is also the Lifetime #2 borzoi in dogs defeated both in ASFA and AKC.
Luminol is greatly missed by all at Ryhka Borzoi but especially by her littersister and lifetime companion, Lithium.
