V Visions E-Mail
I just got a reply from V Visions, so read that.  Pretty interesting.
My E-mail to them:

Hey V Visons!  In 1999, a game that we all liked, Crash Team Racing, came out.  The idea of Crash racing was pure brilliant (even though a rip-off of Mario Kart).  Now you guys made Crash Nitro Kart.  This game rocks, but there are some elements in which Crash fans are disappointed.  The game says, "Race as virtually any character in the Crash Universe."  Well, what happened to Koala Kong, Papu Papu, Ripper Roo, Rilla Roo, the Komodo Bros., etc.?  Anyways, great game!

Sincerely,
Dan

P.S. I saw in some screenshots a Thunderbolt weapon and a Voodoo Doll weapon.  Why aren't they in the game?
V Visions' reply:

"Dear Dan,
Nice to hear that you like Crash Bandicoot.  The reference to "virtually any character in the Crash universe" was a marketing description meaning any of the major characters.  Boss characters like Brio, Ripper, Rilla, Komodo Bros. etc. were all considered but in the end we had to get the total number (of characters) down to 16 to be able to fit them with all their animations, voices, movies onto the one disk.

As to your question about the Voodoo Doll and Thunderbolt weapons; The Thunderbolt weapon is still in the game but it's icon was changed to a Static Shock Orb.  The Voodoo Doll was one of the weapons that did not survive our focus tests and was unfortunately removed.

Micheal was kind enough to also send me this "special Crash picture" that he attached with the e-mail.
