No one is ever going to argue the fact that Dylan is a '60's icon, a living legend, or the poet laureate of Rock N Roll, but the the thing many people miss is how hip this cat is.
This is the man you cautioned you not to "ask me nuthin' 'bout nuthin', I just might tell you the truth". Dylan spewed anger, resentment, and just a lil bit of vengeance through the air with a razors edge and a quick turn of wit.
With his surrealistic word play, Dylan stole the crowns from Kings and became a voice of what has now become numerous generations. He screamed that others had a lot of nerve to say they were his friends and that "even you, yesterday, you had to ask me where it was at."
Always one to confound and confuse, Dylan is constantly making the public guess at his next action. As was stated when he won his lifetime Grammy award, "...and with a turn of his heels he was gone. Once more America met Bob Dylan and once more America didn't know what to make of it."
If being hip is attitude, then Dylan has it in spades. Never one to follow convention, but create it, Dylan is the consumate artist, and consumate hipster.
