How to Commission a Painting

The most important items needed for a successful painting featuring your subject (whether it may be horses, dogs, cars….) are a set of good photographs. The photos must not be copyrighted or permission to use them must be obtained. Cathy uses these pictures to capture conformation, color, size, expression, personality, and pose in her painting. Photos taken in sunlight are the best for providing detail and coloration.

You may supply the photos, have them taken, or request Cathy to take them. If she should take the photos, consideration for her time and travel expenses are required. An estimate of such expenses would be agreed upon and payment must be made prior to the travel day.

In the final stages of painting the subject, Cathy will send you a photograph via the Internet or mail for your review. Once the final touches are done, she will complete the painting and provide a photograph for your final approval. Upon approval, the painting will be shipped.

If after your receipt of the painting you are not delighted, send it back and discuss it with Cathy. She will do whatever she can to make it right for you.

Commission prices start at US$300.00. One half of this amount is payable up front. The balance is payable upon your approval of the painting.
Cathy Rycroft will retain all rights to any images and artwork she creates, but will work with you if the artwork needs to be used for commercial or other purposes.
